Home team is 6-2 SU in this round (5-3 vs spread).

Heat (2-0) @ Wizards-- Desperate times for Wizards, who lost first two games by 19,6 points, allowing Miami to shoot 52.4%/57.6% from floor. Average of 65 free throws a game being taken in series, so lot of physical play, and with Thomas injuring abdominal muscle, that is six less fouls they have to use on Shaq. Wiz was 3-0 at home in first round, but Miami is 6-0 in playoffs so far.

Spurs (2-0) @ Sonics-- Same goes for Seattle, since the Spurs shot 56.7%/52.8% in first two games, led at half by 27 and 12 points, and have yet to be tested. Seattle has taken 28 less FT's than San Antonio in two games, and shot just 6-25 on treys. Seattle was 3-0 at home in first round, but Spurs won six in row since losing Game 1 at home to the Nuggets.

            Stat of the day
            Tuesday night's Kansas City-Toronto game:
a rare double complete game (Greinke/Halladay)
time of game, 1:44. total pitches, 193-
the average is somewhere around 275-280.

            13) You look at the stat above, and note that Kansas City is 0-7 in Greinke's starts, despite his being a fine young pitcher. No wonder Tony Pena resigned- losing was driving him crazy.

            12) Rams got a much-needed win this week, when the Jones Dome announced the Astroturf there is going to be torn up, and replaced with FieldTurf. 22 of the 32 NFL clubs now have FieldTurf, with St Louis the last team to tear up the hard carpet. Colts also tore it up in this offseason. Good news for all the players.

            11) Want a stadium named after you? Oklahoma St's football stadium is now Boone-Pickens Stadium, and simply because Mr Boone and Mr Pickens just gave the school $3 million. Life is simple sometimes.

            10) I wonder what ballplayers think about a Red Sox plan to raffle off three authentic World Series rings. It seems to me that was the one thing players could get that was almost sacred, because "You can't buy one". Now, you can't buy it, but you can win a raffle for one and that just doesn't seem right.

            9) If you invested in the over (9.5) in Seattle-Bronx tilt Wednesday afternoon, you had your feet up before a 5-5 first inning was over. Hideous pitching, defense.

            8) Victor Zambrano of the Mets wears rosary beads around his neck when he pitches. After watching him start every game so far this season, it would be more appropriate if his catcher wore the religious artifacts, as many pitches as he bounces in front of the plate.

            7) Bruce Bochy is the 65th manager in the history of the big leagues to win 800 games.

            6) No late night baseball Wednesday or Thursday nite on the dish? What is this world coming to?

            5) As an A's fan, this has been a dismal week, losing eight of last nine games, the last two on walkoff HR's. But watching Octavio Dotel warm up Tuesday night, while wearing the wrong jersey (he had green jersey, his teammates had gray jerseys), might be indication that the Oakland closer's head is in the wrong place.

            4) Something has to give in Kansas City this weekend, as Royals are 2-12 at home, Tampa Bay 1-10 away from home. With Pena quitting on May 10, it is hard to see how KC's situation could be more depressing.

            3) Wednesday night was the first night the playoffs in the NBA seemed like the playoffs. Home teams had been steamrolling, until the Pacers won in Detroit.

            2) Joe Johnson got six stitches above his left eye after he fell hard after being fouled in second quarter of the Dallas-Suns' game. He had to take the two foul shots with his eye bleeding, otherwise he was done for the rest of the game. He missed first, made second.

            1) If you know a young fellow/lady who wants to be a college basketball player, encourage him/her to be an ambidextrious ballhandler, get better athletically, and practice shooting. Anyone who can shoot can play in college, if you can run and handle the ball. Just being a shooter isn't enough; you need to be versatile.

Thanks Great dog ... Glad to hear that ....

                  **Heat at Wizards**

--Las Vegas Sports Consultants opened Miami (65-23 straight up, 47-38 against the spread) as a 4 1/2-point favorite for Game 3 of this best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals matchup. As of Thursday night, most sports books had chimed in at 4 1/2 as well, with the majority of totals hung at 206 1/2. The Wizards are plus 180 on the money line.

--For bettors who like to make first-half bets, most books have the Heat hung as 2 1/2-point favorites with a total of 100 1/2.

--Washington (49-41 SU, 41-47 ATS) hasn't seen a home underdog spot since beating San Antonio 95-87 as a two-point 'dog way back on Feb. 9. For the season, however, the Wizards are just 3-4 ATS as home 'dogs.

--Miami remains unbeaten in the playoffs with a 6-0 SU record and a 4-2 spread mark. The Heat collected a 105-86 win as 11 1/2-point favorites in Game 1, but they came up short of covering the 12-point number in a 108-102 Game 2 triumph. Dwyane Wade was brilliant again with 31 points, 15 assists and seven rebounds. That's just a goregous stat line.

--Washington was already thin on the front line with Kwame Brown suspended for the rest of the season. To make matters worse, Etan Thomas left Game 2 with an abdominal strain. Thomas is "doubtful" for Game 3.

--VI's Chris David (16-7 run, +2,260 yr.) felt Shaquille O'Neal's play (16 points, 7 rebounds) in Game 2 was poor, especially his lack of rebounding. David said, "Even without Brown and Thomas, the Wizards killed the Heat on the offensive boards with an 18-7 edge. It seems like Shaq can't jump anymore and 'Zo didn't bring the same energy he had in Game 1. Just look at the box score from Game 2. The Wizards took 90 shots to the Heat's 66. Only 66 shots? That's unheard of these days."

--Stan Van Gundy's team won and covered the number in both of their trips to Washington this year. However, the Heat are in the midst of a 3-8 ATS funk in their last 11 road games.

--The 'over' is 26-16-1 for the Heat on the road. They are just 20-22 ATS on the road.

--The 'over' is on a 9-2-1 run in Washington's last 12 games. The 'over' has a 22-20 record in Washington's home outings.

--The Wizards are 32-12 SU at home, but they are merely 21-22 versus the number.

                  ================================================

                  **Spurs at Sonics**

--Most spots are listing San Antonio (65-24 SU, 49-38 ATS) as a four-point favorite with a total of 186. Bettors can back the Sonics to win outright for a plus-170 payoff. The Spurs are favored by two in the first half, while the total is 94.

--Gregg Popovich's team owns a 2-0 advantage following a pair of double-digit victories (and spread ******) over the Sonics. The Spurs won Game 1 by a 103-81 count and prevailed in Game 2, 108-91.

--After watching Game 2, David said, "San Antonio's dominance at home (42-4) is something that should be talked about more. The four losses at SBC Center have come by 17 combined points (6, 2, 4 and 6). The defense at home is so good that only one team has eclipsed the century mark on them all season."

--Seattle (56-33 SU, 46-42 ATS) has a 29-15 SU record and a 22-22 ATS mark at home.

--The Spurs have seen the 'under' compile a money-making record of 51-36 overall, but the 'over' is 21-21 in their road games. Meanwhile, the Sonics have watched the 'over' post a 22-21 mark in their home outings.

--Seattle forward Vladimir Radmanovic is "out" for the rest of this series after suffering a sprained ankle in the second quarter of Game 1. Ray Allen also went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter and didn't return. But in Game 2, Allen was back on the floor and scored 25 points in a gutty 42-minute effort.

--San Antonio has a 23-20 SU record and a 22-21 spread mark on the road.
