Pacers @ Pistons--Ton of subplots here, starting with a huge fight in first meeting this season, which cost Indiana contunity for whole season; Artest is still suspended from that night. Both head coaches used to coach other team. Pistons are defending champ, and Pacers just got thru a Game 7 win in Boston, while Detroit coasted in its series Road team won all four series meetings, with three of the four staying under the total.

Mavericks @ Suns-- If Nelson were still coaching Mavs could see total of 225, but think Johnson more defensive minded. Road dog won all three series meetings, with an average total of 229.7, but all three games were before Johnson took over as coach. Suns have edge in rest, as they swept Grizzlies, while Dallas needed seven games to get by Rockets, in grueling series.

          13) Loved the overhead camera at Kentucky Derby; it showed just how congested and dangerous racing in traffic like that can be.

          12) The combined road record. of the Reds, Rockies, Astros and Devil Rays is 7-50.

          11) Of the five Buffalo Bill starting QB's since Kelly retired, only Doug Flutie (21-9) has a winning record.

          10) Will Jeff Van Gundy do games on TV now that his Rockets are done? And how will he deal with officials if he does? He is already skating on this ice with Stern, more public criticism might not do his career any good

          9) Home team is 39-6 in last 45 Game 7's in playoffs, which goes to show you how stupid Best-of-7 format is in NBA; even if underdog splits the first six games, their chance in decisive Game 7 on road is 13.3%.

          8) So I'm paying for gas at a rest stop on the Thruway in western New York couple of weeks ago; the guy in front of me has shaved head, with tattoos of eyeballs on the back of his head. A little bit eerie.

          7) Milwaukee manager Yost wears uniform number 3 in honor of the late race car driver Dale Earnhardt.

          6) The infield grass at Miller Park looks thicker than any grass I have seen on a big league infield.

          5) Five of last six PGA Tour events went to a playoff.

          4) Why would a flyball pitcher like Eric Milton sign as a Cincinnati Red, in that ballpark? Seems stupid.

          3) If I am batting coach for the A's (notice I didn't say hitting coach), I don't answer phone at my hotel, or my cellphone. I just get to ballpark, get in my uniform and get out on field before anyone can fire me.

          2) Do you think the people who run the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown want to see Pete Rose inducted?

          1) I still think we've seen Barry Bonds play for the last time in the major leagues.
