              Dear BC,
I have won the superfecta and am now ready to graduate from my retirement home with a couple thousand to spare on my Model T Ford Car.
              Sincerely,

Its a good thing the Yankees won today or Georgie would be even more pissed than he already is;they better keep on winning too or else!
You know what's hilarious? First the Red Sox come from 0-3 last year to beat Yankees and then win WS and NOW his highly tauted horse finishes out of the money;how ironic and fitting!

Up until a couple of years ago I used to invest a couple of hundred dollars in each of the three big stakes races.
I rarely showed a profit in those races,as the odds are stacked against you badly with sometimes as many as 20 horses and especially when exactas and trifectas are involved.
Today I invested a paltry $50 bucks on a few exactas and trifectas and wasn't even close.
Sure a few people won(very few), but judging by the enormity of the payouts, many more people lost.
Before today I was tempted to say that the field should be cut back to 12 or 13 and leave the really lousy horses out, but judging by the incredible results today, I can't say that any more.
I sure hope someone from BC won on it today, and the other folks didn't lose too much.

savage you are right, they should go back to only 12,13,or 14 which was the old starting gate.you can put that piece of hamburger head to head with any of the top horses in that race and they would all beat him.20 horses just ruins the race anymore.trainers put in as many that can qualify to screw the race up and hope their best horse comes away with the win.keep the trash out i say and you will see some better derbys and until then i won't bet a lot either like you said until all the best ones are in the gate and not the garbage.

Seofred-Its like a chess game-Zito has 5 horses in the race, the hope being that some of them will negatively impact other horses(not his) so that one of his (Zito's) top horses will win.

When they are only three years old and some have run as few as 4 races, how do you decide who the best are...I realize it can be done, but opinions will always greatly differ...it's like saying how a guy drafted out of college is gonna do in the NFL...there will always be busts, and always be long shot winners...all horses qualified other than one, whose owner paid 200k to get him in...now that i don't think should be allowed...Did anyone see Giacomo was 17th near 1/2 mile mark...crazy...I lived in Louisville for 5 1/2 years and been to Churchill Downs many times and thought this years was very exciting...if you ever get a chance you should go...
