  • Yankees FYI

Let's take a look at what is going on w/ the Evil Empire and how it may apply to cashing in on it. You all know the facts:
    - Highest payroll in the history of the game
    - All stars at every position
    - High expectations every year, World Series or bust
    - Impatient, what have ya done for me lately, I want results now owner
    - Toughest media city to play in
    - Laughing stock of MLB right now, w/ every non Yanks fan enjoying their demise
    - Endless analysis and finger pointing in NY by the media, fans and the Boss

Now let's be realistic. This will not continue. We all know they will go on an ass kickin streak on several occassions this season and be right back in it at the end. So when will this first streak occur so we can be on them and making money during the streak? What this team needs more than anything right now is a long road trip. I am of the opinion that they will continue to struggle thru next Wednesday. They have Thursday 5/12 as a much needed off day all be it a travel one. On Friday the 13th they begin a 9 game road trip. Just what the doctor ordered to get away from the constant naggin' in NY and just play ball(a 3 game set at Oakland, a 3 game set at Seattle and 3 games at Shea). While the last three will only be across town, the streak will have already begun and it will be cross town rival Mets. The A's can't score and Seattle has not been outstanding either this year. I look for them to go 7 and 2 on this road trip and plan to play them every game. Should show a profit at the end. Just my thoughts. Then again, what the hell do I know?
GL to all tomorrow. Derby Day baby!!!!!! Wish I could be their slammin' some ice cold Rolling Rocks.

I wish you luck but the yanks have been strugglin with TAMPA BAY, who struggles with tampa bay. Most years they bounce back, but this year they have old pitchers and they cant use steriods. Before the year I thought they would be unbeatable but I dont know anymore. Good luck with what ever you do.

        Hokie

It is a very valid point and you are correct. THE Yecheezs will get a couple of win streaks going.

The one thing you didn't touch on and it is the ONE thing I think is the ENTIRE PROBLEM WITH THIS TEAM.

        PISS POUR PITCHING!!

THIS HAS AFFECTED THEIR OFFENSE BIG TIME.

I earlier tried them in a couple of parlays looking at the poor competion vs them and yet they flamed them each and every time. I have since made a killing taking the dog and ESPECIALLY THE RUN LINE DOG!

Just look at it from the "teams points of view"! The only few early wins they have had is because they had to outscore everyone. If an offense knows THAT.....THEY have a tendency to say what the hell anyway!

THEY HAVE NOT WON MORE THAN TWO IN A ROW YET THIS YEAR!! AND THEN 2 IN A ROW only TWICE!

Look at the last 14 games!

        4 WINS............10 LOSSES

        4 WINS.......OUTSCORING THE OPPONENT 33-10.

        10 LOSSES.......GETTING OUTSCORED 30-67!!!!!!!!!!!!

They scored MORE RUNS in their 4 lonely wins than in their 10 LOSSES!!!

AVG OVER 8 RUNS A GAME IN THE WINS

AVG 3 RUNS IN THEIR LOSSES

I will be there when they turn it around but they have MASSIVE PITCHING problems right now and even the defense behind those poor pitching outings is bad to say the least!

THANKS FOR THE POST AND BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

(I don't hate the YECHEES more than the Chicago Pale Panties or the Boo Hoos playing at "The Joke" from the Mistake at the Lake country though)! DIV...RIVALRY CITY WITH THEM!!
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

The Yankees in a sense remind me of the laughable Big Dig in Boston.
Nearly 15 billion was spent, and yet the tunnel is filled with leaks and considered by many to be not safe.
Yankees on a smaller scale are the same as aboe-200 million spent, and the team also is filled with holes and leaks and in this case advancing age and decreasing skills and abilities.

I dont think there is much pitching they will be able to trade for this year to turn it around. They are stuck with brown(wont turn it around), johnson (could turn it around),and pavano(unproven). They have always won when they had the lead late because of Rivera, not so anymore.

All of ya make valid points. They are not ones I have overlooked. Their pitchin' overall has been poor. They are old and over paid. But they do have the talent to outscore teams. They badly need to get away from NY on a long road trip and just play ball. Rivera isn't hurt and he will turn his season around. Flash is better than he's been pitching so I believe the pen will get better. Brown is an overpaid fruitcake, but he is still capable of throwin' a good game or two in a row. His confidence is just low and for good reason. I wouldn't say Pavano is unproven. He's a quality starter and a tough guy, mentally and physically. The line drive from Mora didn't even knock him down. I think they'll finish a close third in their division behind the Sox and O's. But they will put together a few streaks over the course of the season and I believe this road trip will be the first one. Appeciates ya'll respones. I like to talk baseball w/ knowledgable fans of the games. I personally dislike the Yanks for what they represent. Their should be a salary cap to create parity. I realize they are only taking advantage of the rules that exist, but I still detest them. Their are haves and have nots in MLB and the Yanks and their fans seem to revel in being THE HAVES a little too over zealously and I see their start as justice for the little guy. On the other hand, we're talkin' bout' wagering and winning cabbage. I think this particular road trip and the opponents will be perfect timing for the Yanks.

Reds fan, but love the game in general. Took me three years to get over the last strike.

                  Bump

The STREAK started b/4 the road trip but it will continue on this road trip. I still think they go at least 7 and 2 on this road trip. Time to hop on board and enjoy the ride:
Game one tomorrow, Yanks at Oakland
                  Mussina -115 vs. Harden
Harden will do his best to match Mussina, but a lack of run support and Dotel to close if he's lights out will do him in.
                  Enjoy the ride! Peace out!

                    bump

Hop on the bus, they're 2-0 on the road swing:
                    Yankees -180 Johnson vs Haren
Lotta chalk for me, but I'm playin' the whole road trip and they're off to a 2-0 start. Should be 3-0 after today.

                    POD:
                    Orioles PK Bedard vs. Contreras
Bedard pitched excellent again last time out and was a tough luck loser. He pitched much better than his line indicated and should have garnered a win. He's the best lefty in the AL behind Santana and I will take him all day at a PK with the O's run support and pen no matter who they're playin' or who is piching for their opponent. He is nasty. Young pitcher who is coming into his own, trusting his nasty stuff and throwin' w/ confidence.

                    GL to all today!

There's two winnaaaaaha for ya! The Yanks are red hot and Bedard is lights out!

Mondays POD: Ya know what it is........
                        Yankees -130 Wang vs Sele
The Yanks are red hot and Sele blows! Need I say more?

                        GL to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                          Bump

That's 4-0 so far on this road trip. Put this in this AM:
Yankees -165 Pavano vs. Mateo 10:05pm
Mateo is a fine young pitcher making his first start this year. This appears to be a good spot for their current streak to end. But as I said, gonna play all nine Yanks games on this road trip and plan to cash in on a 7-2 road swing. So far 4-0 and paddin' the acct.

Now, my other two plays I put in this AM which I like better:
Angels PK Santana vs Elarton 7:05pm
That's Earvin Santana toeing the hump tonight for the Halos. One of their top pitching prospects making his debut tonight. The youngster was very solid in AAA b/4 gettin' the call posting a 5-1 record w/ a 2.37ERA. Don't worry bout' nerves, this kid believes in his stuff and has the poise of a veteran. He's a pitcher w/ throwers stuff which is a nice combo. On the other hand, Elarton sucks and the Indians offense is scuffling. I see good line value here.
Marlins -120 Willis vs. Lowe 10:10pm
The D'Train will out pitch Lowe, bottom line. Florida also has a better lineup in my opinion and the ability to play small ball in a pitching duel. I'm sure this line has probably moved since this AM but I wouldn't be scared. I'll ride the D'Train wave till it hits the beach and -120 here is a bargain.

Then again, what the hell do I know? GL to all tonight!

Those Damn Yankees are now 5-0 on this road swing and I'm cashin' on every one. Hope some of you are too. On to game 6:
Yankees -170 Mussina vs Moyer 10:05pm

                              Two more plays today:
Angels -125 Colon vs. Westbrook 12:05pm
Marlins -125 Beckett vs. Weaver 3:10pm
Playing both these games based strictly on the starting pitching matchup and I think both teams will bounce back today. What are the chances of the Indians and Dodgers puttin' up the runs they did yesterday against these two guys? Not good.
Then again, what the hell do I know? GL to all today!

Earvin Santana, what can I say. I thought he would be calm and poised in his debut and pitch well. Exact opposite, his ass drew up a like a little school girl.
