The Mavericks probably is easy to explain. It's the same one that caused them to fold early the last couple of years. You win in the NBA playoffs by playing defense. Van Gundy, an outstanding defensive coach, has slowed down the Dallas offense while McGrady and Yao have eaten up the Mavs' defense. With no real center, Yao is taking Dallas to lunch. I do expect an inspired effort from a desperate Dallas team, but the Houston home court advantage will be too much to overcome.
