There is no question ARod is a complete player, but the bottom line is the Red Sox got the rings and ARod didn't.

        My point exactly!

Trust me when i say i'm by NO MEANS jealous of the Yanks. The bottom line is simple. You can say i'm a sox fan or whatever you want but facts are facts and Seattle had their most wins in franchise history and Texas did too the year AFTER he left. That's by no means a coincidence because they simply used 1 man's money to build a team when he left. He is a great player but facts are not built on jealousy and NY had the one, only, and BIGGEST choke in MLB history, a series in which Gay-Rod and his 25 million didn't show up.

I don't care who you are or how good you are. When you take 25 million of the payroll you cripple the rest of the team and franchise. He wants to win? BULLSHIT or he would have given a little back, make that alot back in Texas to get some pitching. He is just as greedy as the rest of them and is a career LOSER. Don't believe it but take away last year and look at the records of the teams he played on.

If you crack back on me use a more intelligent comment than "I'm a Sox fan". Come with facts! :D

Dont worry they will win this year and Gay-rod will get a ring and the mvp...You can say anthing you want about him....I agree he is greedy just like all of them....But that does not change the fact that he is the best player in baseball by far!!! and when he gets done he will be up there with the best ever...He should be playing shortstop then his numbers would even more incredible. Finally you tell me would take the Money???

I agree with Wayne 100%. Until ARod proves he is a clutch player and able to lead teams to championships or out of mediocrity, I will simply view him as a very good and vastly overpaid player.
Going back in history, Mickey Mantle, a GREAT Yankee player, all things considered, was much better than ARod at least up until to this point, and yes I lived through and watched Mantle through his entire career and contribute a lot to his his team winning multiple pennants and WS;ARod at this point all things considered isn't even close.

Great stats but not that meaningful unless he can deliver some of those stats when it counts as Mickey Mantle did.

                      $23,319,500

Take the $2,680,500 left over and buy all your friends a hot dog and coke!

You can have Gay-Rod and with his salary alone i will field this team.

Try again to convince me he's worth it.

His teams don't win because of him. NY is a perfect fit because they can actually afford Gay-Rod!

wayne, I would almost guarantee everyone on your list got as much money as they could when they signed. It is not AROD's fault that he happens to be a good business man and signs for the big bucks. He is able to do this because of his numbers and age. I do agree you have to get a ring before you can be considered on of the all time best. There is no telling how good his numbers will be before he finishes, and I would almost guarantee you he will end up with a ring or two.

On a team with a $223 million payroll i would say he has a good shot at a ring.

Like i said, he's a great player but simply not worth the money. I know that's hard for you to accept but look at my list. Those guys are TRULY worth the money. Just for the record, i don't think Manny Ramirez is worth $22 Million either. Not even close.

P.S. Those guys listed could have held out for new contracts right? They didn't.

I'm not defending AROD, because I am a Ranger fan and I'm much happier without him. But he does not do steroids, he is no hotdog, and I dont think he has ever held out of a contract. I would agree NY is his perfect.

I may be wrong about the contract but I think he played out all his contracts unless mangement wanted to redo them. I dont remember him holding out.

I would love actually hate to see in today's salary structure what Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle,Babe Ruth, etc. would demand and/or get in arbitration if ARod's salary is justified.
George Steinbrenner might even have to sell a stock or two in order to afford them.

I'm not saying he held out. I'm saying the guys on my list didn't. Meaning, they too come to play every day but at a much cheaper AND MORE VALUABLE price!
