Home teams were 6-2 vs spread in Game 1's, 0-2 so far in the Game 2's...........

76ers @ Pistons (1-0)-- Game 1 was 48-46 at half, but Detroit shot 52% for game, Sixers 40.3%, and Pistons were +13 on boards. Sixer bench was woeful, scoring total of six points (1-12 from floor). Iverson was 9-22, so he'll need better production, because Webber put up numbers, and Philly still got crushed.

Nets @ Heat (1-0)-- This could be short series, as the Heat is getting production from unusual sources. Damon Jones made 7 of 9 treys, Heat shot 59% from floor for game, as they led 54-42 at half and coasted home. Nets don't have a third scoring option; Jefferson returned from long absence and played 23 minutes, but Jersey big men don't score enough.

Kings @ Sonics (1-0)-- Both teams shot bricks in Game 1 (Kings 38.6%, Sonics 36.5%); there were 43 boards on offensive end, and Sonic C James had 17 points, 15 rebounds, taking 20 shots. Bibby shot 1-15, but Kings still rallied from 23-point deficit and nearly caught up in wild rally. Sonics had 28-15 edge in FT's tried; Kings were just 5-24 beyond arc. They need to make shots, which seems obvious, but it is true.

      13) First round of NFL Draft took 5:39, 2nd longest by a couple minutes behind '99 Draft.

      12) In seven of last nine drafts, Colts' first pick was a player from Big 11 Conference.

Some teams are taking heat from their local media.......
      11) Bills are getting killed for not trading RB Henry, a very unhappy player. .

      10) Chiefs drafted a punter in third round; with their offense, why would they be drafting a punter so high?

      9) Lions picked a receiver in top 10 of first round for third year in row. It is bad enough news that they are picking in top 10 three years in a row.........but to use all three picks on receivers? Not good..........after all, they allowed foes to complete 61% of their passes a year ago, couldn't they have used a top defender?

      8) Good move by Giants, drafting Southern Illinois RB Jacobs, who transferred from Auburn, because of the two guys ahead of him, both top 10 draft picks. Last year, he scored 19 touchdowns for the Salukis.

      7) Where is the line where exhaustive analysis of these kids becomes overanalysis, which leads to paralysis? I would value performance in games over workouts, but I may be in the minority on that one..........

      Elsewhere.....
      6) Are Gary Bettman and Bob Goodenow still being paid, despite there being no hockey season?

      5) Tell me owning a car wash in southern California is not a great job? All you need to do is keep a lot of carnauba wax in stock, and watch the cars flow in and out all day. Lenny Dykstra owns one, very good way to invest his baseball earnings........too bad his name is going to be dragged through a lot of mud this summer.

      4) Somebody refresh me on Isiah Thomas, and why is he qualified to run an NBA franchise?

      3) John Daly is now sponsored by Hooters.......at last, something in this world that makes perfect sense.

      2) A week from Thursday, the date is 5-5-05 (May 5, 2005).

      1) Best-of-7 playoff series, in the NBA, at least, are too long for my taste. They become like practices, as both teams know each other's plays by heart, so if there aren't any transition hoops, it is hard to score.
