New Jersey @ Miami-- Shaq's health main factor here, as Nets had to win ten of last twelve games just to get to this point, qualifying on last night of season. Miami won 20 of last 21 home games; they swept Nets during the regular season, winning by 23,25,10 points. Jefferson is expected to try and play at some point in series. Average series total was 174.

Philadelphia @ Detroit-- Larry Brown against his former team, which won eight of last ten games, and is 5-3 in its last eight on road. After losing first three games against Pistons by 8,4,18 points, Sixers won 107-84 last time they met. Detroit rolled down stretch, winning ten in row at one point. Can Webber take scoring load off Iverson? Average series total was 185.8.

Indiana @ Boston-- Larry Bird's team vs Celtics. Hmm. Pacers overcame tumultuous regular season to make the playoffs; they finally have their team back (except Artest) but still lost four of last seven games. Celtics were 27-15 in last 42 games, after being 13-16 at one point; they're 5-1 in last six on road, but lost two of three vs Pacers, losing by 6,10; winning 100-86 in last meeting. Average series total was 194.0.

Wizards @ Bulls- both made playoffs for first time since the Jordan days; home side won all three series games, with Wiz losing by 7,11 in DC, winning 97-90 at home. Bulls won 15 of last 19 games, but lack depth without Curry and Deng. Wizards lost seven of last 11 games. Eddie Jordan was brains behind Nets' trips to Finals. Average series total was 182.3.

Grizzlies @ Suns-- Memphis will want slower pace, but Suns want to run; teams split during regular season, with Phoenix winning by 7,6 points, losing by 9,11. In only one of four games did both teams score 100. Suns won 14 of last 18 games, covering seven of last nine at home. Memphis lost five of last six games, failed to cover their last five on foreign soil. Average series total was 192.8.

Nuggets @ Spurs-- Karl, who played for Spurs in ABA 30 years ago, led huge turnaround which saw Nuggets win 25 of last 29 games, including their last eleven home games, after taking over in midseason. Duncan's health is huge here; Nesterovic is expected to miss first couple of games. San Antonio was 9-8 SU last 17 games, 3-8 vs spread in their last eleven games. Denver won last two in series, after losing first two by 14,9 points. Average total in season series was 179.0.

Kings @ Sonics-- Both teams have injury issues; Miller is out for Kings, Stojakovic is hobbled, as is Lewis for the Sonics, who lost 10 of last 14 games, covering three of last 12. Kings were 11-10 in first 21 games after the Webber trade, before they won five of last seven games. Seattle won first three series games, before Kings won last one, 122-101. Average series total was 209.3.

Houston @ Dallas-- Rockets won, covered last seven in row, winning five of those seven by 12+ points; teams split season series, with Rockets winning last two by 10, 21 points, after losing by 7(ot),24. Notes from the NFL Draft............
      7) The Rodgers kid probably had a lousy afternoon, but landed on his feet with the Packers.

      6) Five sets of teammates were drafted by same team, a very strange circumstance.

      5) Pack your bags, Doug Brien. Ohio State's Nugent is a tremendous kicker. Herman Edwards said all the right things last winter, but Brien is a goner, after pair of missed field goals cost Jets their playoff game.

      4) The Patrick Ramsey era in Washington will not be a fondly remembered one, and also wasn't very long, as Skins spent first rounder on Auburn's Campbell.

      3) When Arizona took JJ Arrington, it killed chances of Travis Henry getting traded to the desert.

      2) What does Matt Hasselbeck think when Holmgren takes Georgia QB Greene in the third round?

      1) Someone up there likes Maurice Clarett, as despite all the issues, the lousy workouts, his lack of playing in last two years, he still got drafted on the first day.
