    13) Neither Jets, Giants have a first-round pick in the draft Saturday. Could be a boo-free Saturday.

    12) Why did the 49ers give Mike Nolan power to run their draft, as well as coach? What has he ever done?

    11) Nets were down 11 at half Tuesday, their season on the line, and stormed out with a 32-8 third quarter to eliminate the Lebron Cavaliers. Good for Lawrence Frank, one of our favorite NBA coaches. But.......

    10) .....Vince Carter should rot in hell for the tank job he did in Toronto. Not only did he not give 100% for the millions of dollars they paid him, he had the onions to say he didn't try!!!! Isn't that worth a suspension by the league?

    9) Padres wore camouflage uniforms Tuesday; they do that every so often, to honor the military presence in the San Diego area. Nice touch..........

    8) Media is already hyping up the Charlie Weis Notre Dame era as a return to greatness. They guy's only job as a head coach was in the late 80's, at a high school in New Jersey. Granted, he won a state title, but let's hold off on the Knute Rockne comparisons for a while

    7) This has not exactly been the greatest nine months in Cleveland Cavalier history. First, they royally screw up the Boozer/free agent fiasco, losing a key player to free agency, when he wasn't a free agent, then they go fire the coach with a 34-30 record, because they were on a losing streak, and go on to miss the playoffs.

    6) Ted Stepien once owned the Cavs, and might have been the worst owner in sports history, but he would be proud of new owner Gilbert, whose first couple of months with the Cavs was Stepienesque in ineptitude.

    5) Jacksonville hired Georgia Tech assistant Warren as head coach. Good move. Siena never even looked at Warren, even though he was part of some of their greatest days, working under Coach Hewitt. Instead, they hired an Irishman with a 90-87 career record, who has been a competent, but unspectacular leader.

    4) Siena's minority players had some problems in late 80's in the social arena, which led to the Saints hiring four consecutive African-American coaches. As two of the four were dismal failures, and a third left after a single (successful) season, school heirarchy didn't even interview a minority this time around. Interesting to see how their recruiting goes in coming seasons.

    3) Kudos to Retief Goosen for speaking his mind and saying that if women want to play on the PGA Tour, let them qualify for events. Amen. Not enough people say what they think. America was built on free speech if we agree, or disagree, we all have the right to saying what we believe.

    2) The coolest thing about the NFL Draft is that there isn't one person who knows for sure, not Belichick, or Cowher or Andy Reid or Parcells; no one knows who the great players are coming out of this draft. Which is why we love Sunday afternoons in the fall so much, to find out who was right and who was wrong.

    1) Would anyone object if the first day of NFL Draft was renamed Kiper Day? No American does his job as well as Mel Kiper, Jr analyzes the NFL Draft, so in honor of that excellence, I will forever refer to the first day of the draft as Kiper Day. Its the least I can do.
