Big Al's Virtually Perfect (95%) Baseball Blowout Winner.
At 7:05 pm our selection is the New York Mets over the Florida
Marlins. Pedro Martinez is still one of the best pitchers in baseball
when he is healthy and right now, he appears to be as healthy as he's
ever been. Pedro has struck out 30, and walked just 4 in 22 innings
this year. Florida will counter with the veteran lefty Al Leiter, who
is a dependable veteran that has pitched well so far this year
despite his age. This is the first time in many years that he has
been a number 4 guy in the rotation and obviously the pressure level
is low given that he follows the best #1 - #3 guys in baseball in
Beckett, Willis, and Burnett. This lefty-righty matchup definitely
favors the Mets as they are batting almost .300 against southpaws
while only managing about .250 against righties. The same can be said
of Florida as they are batting almost 100 points higher against
lefties than righties. Unfortunately, Martinez is a righty and not
only that, he's one of the best in the game. Finally, in games
against teams that average less than 2.75 extra base hits per game
(Florida averages 2.57), Martinez is an almost-perfect 19-1. Take the
