This is a perilous day with many teams likely to phone it in and sit out key players. It also presents huge opportunities.
2* Knicks -1 1/2
Strong play here. Wizards' loss last night eliminated all chance of first round home court advantage. They'll rest tonight (and they've been banged up for weeks). Knicks, on the other hand, played hard last night in Chicago and will want to end an awful season on a positive note. I considered making this play a 3* but I just can't do that with a team as bad as New York, but I really can't see Washington winning undrer any scenario.
2* Warriors -12
Golden State has ended the season sensationally and has a chance to go out with a huge statement at home tonight where the crowds have been boisterous. Utah is injured and awful. Warriors won their last two games by 47 points and are getting great point guard play from Baron Davis. GS by 18.
1* Raptors +5 1/2
There's something fundamentally wrong with the Cavs. Their win over Boston last night didn't impress me in that the Celtics hung with them for 44 minutes of a game that was meaningless for them and meant the season for Cleveland. I think this team may choke on the road with a playoff berth on the line. Toronto comes home after crushing Milwaukee and can get consolation for a bad season by knocking Cleveland out of the playoffs.
1* Grizzlies -3
Two teams locked into playoff slots playing out the string. I'll go with the home team because Memphis backed into the playoffs and is trying to get some momentum. Dallas played its last home game last night and likely won't be inspired tonight. The only thing that scares me (and it's the reason the Mavs are a legit contender to win the championship) is that Dallas' second string is better than half the league's first string.
1* Blazers -3
Can't resist one last shot at playing against the Lakers. Now, Butler is the one pretending to not be able to play with Kobe, joining Odom on the FIL(faked injury list). Maybe Kobe won't show up as he pretends to dote over his wife. Blazers suck and come off a hard fought road loss at Denver last night---normally a huge red flag but the Lakers have even more reasons to go against them. (Consider the OVER in this game, too)
Opinions only (I'm playing them all for small money. I think all of these are good plays but there's so much uncertainty on the final night of the season that I'm not sticking my neck out even farther): Sixers, Pacers, T-Wolves, Hornets (in that order)
GL to all and I can't wait for the playoffs----I have very strong opinions about these matchups)
