    Games of the Day
Only games that matter tonight are these two; if Nets win, they make playoffs. If Nets lose and Cavaliers get a win, then Cleveland makes the playoffs.
Nets @ Celtics-- Jersey won three in row and 14 of last 18 games, as they're 41-40 and a win away from an unlikely playoff berth- they beat Boston 99-86 in Swamp eleven days ago. Celtics lost to Cleveland last night, keeping this whole thing alive; they're 4-1 in last five games, with six of last seven staying under total.

Cavaliers @ Raptors-- Cavs stayed afloat last night with their fourth win in last twelve games, now a win in this game, some help from Boston, and they are in the playoffs. Cavaliers lost 105-98 in last visit here, the last game Silas coached Cavs. Toronto routed Milwaukee on road last night; they'll be spunky, but they're also a lame 1-7 vs spread in game following last eight wins,

Elsewhere, 76ers won seven of last nine games, but with playoff berth in hand, they should go through motions vs Atlanta team that has three wins since Valentine's Day- Hawks scored 68 points last night, and allowed Milicic to score 16 points in his first-ever NBA start.

Yes, Larry Brown started Darko last night, and big fella had 16 points in rout over Hawks; Pistons won their last 11 games (9-1-1 vs spread) with five of last six staying under total. Charlotte was routed by Miami last night, as they suffered their third loss in row- they're 5-3 against the spread in their last eight games.

Shaq is done until playoffs, but Miami won by 19 over Bobcats last night, allowing 80 points for second game in row. Orlando ended seven-game losing streak Monday; they're 5-12 since firing ****** Davis, in what has been a horrible season in Magic Kingdom.

Knicks lost their last two games by 4,1 point, as another dismal season comes to end, while Wizards are headed to playoffs for first time this century. Washington won 4 of its last five games, with seven of last nine going over.

Bulls won three in row and 15 of last 18 games, with 4 of last five staying under total- they start first playoffs in post-Jordan era this weekend. Pacers stayed under total on nine of last ten games, losing last three in row, as they scored just 84.7 ppg in those games.

Grizzlies lost four of last five games as they limp towards playoffs; four of their last five games went over the total. Dallas has won 16 of last 18 games, eight in row, but is just 3-3 vs spread in their last six, with five of last seven staying under the total.

Clippers ended their home season (27-14) with a 94-89 win over Hornets, but they stink on road (2-5-1 against spread in last eight on road). Under is 9-2 in last eleven Hornet games, 3-1 in last four Clipper games. Hornets lost their last eight games, covering last two.

Timberwolves are 10-4 in last 14 games of surprisingly awful season, missing playoffs after being #1 seed in the West last year. Seven of the last eight Minnesota games went over the total. Spurs just split pair with Memphis as they get ready for playoffs- they're 3-7 vs spread in their last ten games.

Seattle limping towards playoffs with seven losses in last nine gams, but they covered last three games, with four of last five staying under total. Rockets won last six in a row, as they steamroll towards meeting with even hotter Dallas team. Houston covered their last six games.

Lakers and Portland stopped caring long time ago; if you can think of any good reason to invest in this game, can you e-mail me and clue me in? Blazers did lose a tough one at Denver last night, 119-115.

Warriors won 13 of last 17 games, routing rival Lakers in last game; 12 of their last 14 went over total. Utah is at end of miserable journey, but any team coached by Sloan will try; they're 4-5 in last nine games, and beat the Kings in home finale.

Suns, Kings make last tuneup before playoffs; Phoenix is on five-game win streak (4-1 vs spread) five of their last six games stayed under total. Suns just beat Kings by 18 four nights ago in desert, 116-98. Sacramento won five of their last six home games.

          Steve Merril's NBA Report

The final day of the NBA regular season is finally here and the
playoffs begin in just three days. The Western Conference seedings
and matchups are completely set and can not change tonight.

However, the final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs is still
undecided between New Jersey and Cleveland. In fact, the final three
seeds have yet to be determined as both Indiana and Philadelphia
could also switch positions after this evening.

Below is a look at all seven Eastern Conference matchups for
Wednesday night, along with the complete playoff scenarios for the
          conference.

NEW JERSEY (no line) at BOSTON

The Celtics have clinched the Atlantic Division title and will hold
home court advantage in their opening round matchup which is most
likely versus the Indiana Pacers, although Philadelphia does hold the
tie-breaker edge if they can catch Indiana.

Boston started strong last night at Cleveland and actually held an
8-point lead in the first quarter, but the Cavaliers came back strong
in the second quarter and eventually earned a 100-86 win.

New Jersey currently holds the tie-breaker edge over Cleveland for
the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and would clinch a
bid with a win or a Cavalier loss at Toronto.

          DETROIT (no line) at CHARLOTTE

The Pistons are 11-0 SU (8-3 ATS) the past eleven games, however
Detroit is locked into the second seed in the Eastern Conference and
might rest some starters this evening. Both Rasheed Wallace (14.5
ppg, 8.2 rpg) and Richard Hamilton (18.7 ppg, 4.9 apg) are doubtful
          due to injuries.

Despite being short-handed last night, the Pistons still dominated
Atlanta 95-68 in a game which the Pistons never trailed and led by as
          many as 36 points.

          MIAMI at ORLANDO (-1, 199)

Miami has clinched home court advantage throughout the Eastern
Conference playoffs and will be without Shaquille O?Neal again this
evening. Shaq was injured in the first half versus Indiana on Sunday
and did not return to the game. O?Neal leads the team in rebounding
(10.4 rpg) and is second in scoring (22.9 ppg).

Despite playing without O?Neal last night, Miami still dominated
Charlotte 99-80, even though the Heat used 12 different players in
the game and no starter played more than 28 total minutes.

          CLEVELAND (no line) at TORONTO

Cleveland is currently tied with New Jersey for the final spot in the
Eastern Conference playoffs at 41-40 SU, but the Cavaliers would lose
the head-to-head tie-breaker which means the Cavs must win tonight
and hope the Nets lose at Boston.

Cleveland is a young team that has struggled down the stretch and is
just 7-13 SU the past twenty games.

          ATLANTA at PHILADELPHIA (-10 ½, 204)

Philadelphia (42-39 SU) is currently the seventh seed in the Eastern
Conference and is one game behind Indiana (43-38 SU) for the sixth
seed. The Sixers hold the tie-breaker over Indiana and would earn the
higher seed with a win and a Pacer loss tonight.

The sixth seed is desirable for both teams because it would ensure a
series versus the third seed Celtics instead of the defending world
          champion Pistons.

Philadelphia is just 16-43 ATS the past few years as a big home
favorite, but did cover in the situation Monday night, 122-106,
versus Milwaukee. The Sixers also covered as a 10 ½-point home
favorite versus Atlanta, 103-85, on February 4th.

WASHINGTON at NEW YORK (no line)

The Wizards are locked into the fifth seed and will face the Chicago
Bulls in the first round of the playoffs. The Wizards had a chance to
gain home court advantage, but their loss last night at New Jersey
and the Bulls win over New York has put Washington (45-36 SU) two
games behind Chicago (47-34 SU) with only one remaining.

The Knicks are just 3-12 SU (4-11 ATS) the past fifteen games, but
played hard last night at Chicago and covered the 8 ½-point spread
from start to finish as the Knicks never trailed by more than seven
points and actually held a nine-point lead earlier in the game.

          CHICAGO at INDIANA (no line)

Chicago clinched the fourth seed last night and will hold home court
advantage over Washington in this first round of the Eastern
          Conference playoffs.

Indiana (43-38 SU) can clinch the sixth seed with a win tonight or a
Philadelphia (42-39 SU) loss versus Atlanta. The Sixers hold the
          tie-breaker edge if necessary.
