Todays MLB matchup featuring the Twins starter Johan Santana and the Royals starting lefty hurler Jose Lima is what I believe to be a complete mismatch. Minnesotas hard throwing Santana is now one of pro baseballs most dominating pitchers winning 16 straight over 18 starts. Meanwhile his flamboyant pitching opponent from the Royals ( Lima 0-2 8.56 ERA) has struggled early on this season and has now settled back into me-diocrity after a surprisingly successful campaign with the Dodgers in 2004. Bottom line: Look for Santana to dominate the average at best offense of the Royals here today and for the Twins to light Lima up like a department store Christmas tree. David Wells comes into Wednesday night's game off his strongest start of the season. After a pair of terrible outings, Wells settled down and didn't allow a run over seven innings against the D'Rays last Friday. Expect him to build on that start with another solid performance against Baltimore tonight. Wells is not getting much respect from oddsmakers here based on his first two starts against the Yankees and Blue Jays. I believe that he has put those rough games behind him and will be in solid form Wednesday. You may remember he was 9-2 with a 3.31 ERA on the road last season. He won't drop three straight road decisions this early Orioles starter Bruce Chen has made two quality starts against the Yankees to open the year. However lets not forget that this is a guy that hasn't started more than seven games in a season since 2001. He is in for a rough time against the Red Sox. Boston will be in a foul mood after falling apart late last night against Toronto. They get back on the winning track tonight. Two stars on Boston.
