Wayne he was asking if he should play the ML @ -380 or RL @ -175. At -1.5 -175 I'd pass. Yanks are the home team. I'd never play a home team RL especially at -175Originally posted by wayne1218Why are people saying no way don't lay the -380??? Did he ever say he was doing that? He asked if it was worth playing them at all, not if he should simply lay -380. There are plenty of options without laying the -380 and i don't think one person has told him to lay it yet.
Unless he plays ML parlays there's many other games on the board.

Frank's above point on playing run line favorites at home is excellent. What people don't consider is that if you play a favorite on the run line, they must outscore their opponent by two runs in eight at bats versus the opponent's nine at-bats. (Because the home team doesen't bat in the ninth if it is leading). -175 on a home favorite is risky although not as insane as laying -380. Remember, playing four games at -380 requires you to win all four to make money. If you go 3-1, you lose. That ain't for me.

Gris, I agree. Playing the home favorite -1.5 is a huge disadvantage.Originally posted by griswoldFrank's above point on playing run line favorites at home is excellent. I also agree with you. At this point in the season there's no chance in hell I'd play the Yanks -380. Even in parlays.

Gris and Frank, I disagree in that if I like a team at home to win on the runline, I believe that they will blow that team out of the ball park. I had Boston twice and the scores were 12-7 and 10-0. The NYY last night and you know what happened there.Originally posted by frankb03Gris, I agree. Playing the home favorite -1.5 is a huge disadvantage.

Just remember the Yankees were playing lousy before last night.
One thing I have learned over the years is that a one game blowout doesn't necessarily mean anything except for that particular game.
What a way for Tampa to snap their long losing streak against NY-to win after getting creamed the night before!
As I stated before, games like this make Vegas rich especially when you have an absurd line like this one.
Nomo is no Randy Johnson but he did pitch a no-no, and Johnson has been nothing to write home about this year.
Kudos to anyone who played TB tonight.(I bet there weren't many).
With all of the hundreds of games to be played this season, this one in my opinion was to stay away from period.
