  • Missouri will pull one out today

After a thrilling victory last night look for the tigers to revenge the fluke loss to KU a week ago and WIN OUTRIGHT.
They are getting 9.5 points, which is ridiculous since the margin of victory in both games was 11 points.

GO MIZZOU and bring home a victory!!!!!!!!!11

    too good to be true

Remember Vegas doesn't like to lose, so why would they give 9 points?

my guess is line was -4.5 at missouri, so at a neutral court it should be -8.5 ( 4 for home court).

9.5 really smells. Maybe, vegas wants to trap kansas money.

        you maybe right

but Kansas shot extremely well yesterday and Mizzou has shot average and this will be the Tigers third game in three days including that emotionally draining battle with Oklahoma State yesterday. Kansas basically just had an exhibition game, which thanks to Jackson Vroman, they didn't cover (at least not for me +16).

Free Pick by one of my handicapper. He hits around 55-60%

            MISSOURI +9.5 over KANSAS

Last Sunday in this spot our analysis detailed a particular issue that we thought would equate to some excellent value down the stretch – the concept that regardless of the fact that Kansas is #2 among lined teams in points per game, the Jayhawks in reality are little more than average offensively this season.

It sounds bizarre to say that, but the truth is that they do a tremendous job of forcing tempo with their defense, and few teams execute outlet passes better off of the defensive glass. That means a lot of easy transition points. But when they are forced to run half-court sets they bog down often, largely because there is not anyone on the roster that can score off the dribble.

So what happened last Sunday? Missouri managed to keep it a halfcourt game, and when it got to crunch time, and half-court sets were called for, the Kansas offense broke down in a major way. The only problem is they scored anyway.

A jumper at just under the 4-minute mark by Ricky Clemens put Missouri (our +5 underdog, and +210 Money Line selection) ahead 70-69, and then it became the kind of grind-out game that we were hoping for, in order to exploit the Kansas weakness. In those final four minutes Kansas got one legitimate basket, a jumper by Nick Collison. And because of that the Jayhawks found themselves down 74-71 with a little over a minute left.

That is when the heart-break set in.

A key Kansas possession completely broke down, and Aaron Miles was forced to throw up an off-balance 3-pointer with the shot clock about to expire. Swish. 74-74.

After a Missouri miss, the Jayhawks were once again unable to find anything, and as the shot clock wound down again there was the following sequence – air ball by Collison from the right baseline; offensive rebound by Michael Lee; quick kick-out pass to Kirk Hinrich who hit from about 6-7 feet behind the 3-point line. 77-74.

A forced foul with 1.1 seconds left put the final margin where it was, pushing the side and costing us a loss on the straight-up wager, yet we got exactly what we wanted – Missouri has the wide bodies inside on defense to consistently shut the Jayhawks down as long as they can keep them out of the open court.

The Jayhawks won the first meeting at home 76-70. They should have lost outright at Columbia last Sunday. This is a nice price to take with a revenge-minded Tiger squad that is not intimidated at all by this opponent. And if they get their revenge, it means that we will have picked up ours as well.

            2* MISSOURI +9.5

Not saying there IS, but if there was any trapping going on here with this number they, IMHO, they are clearly trying to trap Mizzou Money.

Are you kidding me? Hinrich, Miles, and Langford can all score off the dribble. And when did the transition game not become part of offense? Kansas shot nearly %60 from the field yesterday. You take out Hinrich's sub-par three point shooting performance (2 for 9) and they shot %50 from three-point land. Not to mention the FOUR options that the ball handler has at anytime to go to. This guy smokes crack. I'm not saying Mizzou can't cover but it's an upset if they do.
