Big Al's National League Game of the Month

At 1:10pm our selection is on Florida over the New York Mets. So far this season, the Mets are the streakiest team in baseball. After losing their first five games on the road, the have now won 6 straight. They are looking at a sweep of Florida in this, the third game of this series. Pedro Martinez pitched very well again on Saturday as the Mets won it in the bottom of the 9th. Today the Marlins go with AJ Burnett against veteran lefty Tom Glavine for the Mets. Despite the relatively low scores in the Mets last 4 games, their bullpen is extremely suspect with an ERA of over five. Burnett has virtually no pressure as he has the luxury of being in the same rotation as budding superstars Beckett and Willis. He has pitched extremely well in his two starts this year and the Marlins are batting .338 vs left handed pitching. After being one of the most consistent lefties in baseball the past 15 years, Glavine is finally starting to show signs of slowing down, as you would expect at almost 40 years old. I'm afraid for Mets fans that the latest streak stops here. Take the Marlins.
