I keep telling myself I'm going to start being disciplined with my betting, but I can't seem to stick to a plan. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stay consistent? I keep seeing bets I like (on here), and I jump on them. At the beginning of this week I told myself I was only going to bet Kapt's PODs, but of course, I've been betting other plays as well. If I stuck to my original plan, I would be up a nice amount right now, instead I'm down for the week. Any suggestions awould be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

SFLIN,
I am by far not the most professional of bettors here, but what I do know is there is no secret recipe. You started out with a plan, then deviated from it.
Frank is one of the most professional (businesslike) bettors here. He has posted in the past %'s of a bankroll you should wager at a certain time.
But then again if you don't push yourself away from the table when your full, It won't make a difference. It's just up to you.
Good Luck
See you on the ship.....Remember the three R's:
Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

I think sflinsj is moreso referring to discipline in terms of the number and type of plays. rwall is talking more about money management, which is also part of discipline. In my opinion, it sounds like you might want to consider lowering the volume of plays. Personally, I think you should consider taking the odd days off instead of forcing a play just because there's baseball games on everyday. However, this is just my opinion and practices. Others have had success with larger volumes of plays with plays literally everyday when it comes to a sport like baseball. Ultimately, you make the choices and for the most part, learning from your past mistakes goes a long way.

My suggestion. For a few days or a week except for Kapt's thread stay out of other threads or BC entirely. That's what I did. I completely ignored threads with selections. Even after the games were over I still stayed out. I didn't want to be tempted because a certain capper did well or poorly.
Like most habits in life discipled betting is a habit. Once you get into the 'habit' of only playing Kapt POD you'll no longer have the desire to play other picks. In the NBA I don't play anyone's selections except my own. There are many capable cappers. I'm satisfied with my own wagers.

I can tell you when you find this site like I did back in February you will be overwhelmed with the amount of "information" and knowledge. Not knowing any better I thought I found gold when I saw all the service plays being posted for FREE. Took me about a week to figure that wasn't the case. Then RIP started his Fades. I watched about a week and was amazed. I decided I would start playing his fades. They were just too hard for me to follow. Often the posts were being made minutes before game time and unless you have the PC sitting in front of you, you could miss a few plays. As many have said, if you pick and choose, you will probably lose.
I told my friend, I just need to pick ONE of these good cappers and follow them. I decided I would play Frank's NBA picks about 3 weeks ago. My account was low so I just started out with very little plays, but bet accorinding to his rating system. The first night I played he was 0-3 (-5 units). This was after 2 GREAT weeks. I didn't change my plan. I followed his plays the last 3 weeks keeping with the same $ of each unit that I was playing with. My account is now in MUCH better shape.
Like Frank said, pick something and stick with it. But make sure what you pick is what you feel comfortable with and give it a month. I read most of the threads on here and several of the baseball cappers are having great Aprils. But some of them have quite a few plays every day and add them thru out the day. If you like that action - you're in business. If you don't want to play 10-15 baseball games a day, then pick a different person like the Kapts POD.
Figure out what his best for you and like Frank said, ignore the other stuff for now.
Trust me, YOU are NOT alone!

These guys have given you very good advice. Its hard even for people that cap their own games like I do. You still have the urge to check other peoples plays. For instance last night, I was already up 1,500 going into the late baseball games, and the NonKonsensus had a POD on Oakland, but I didn't like the game that much and decided to lay off of it. I actually liked LA, but layed off of that too. I could've been up another $600, because they both won, but I didn't and i'm fine with that. Why not take a game like Oakland that was a POD, which are now are 12-1? No reason, just didn't like it. Stick to your guns, and just follow what has been winning here. Either Franks NBA (and take ALL of them, not just 1/2 of them), or the POD's which are INCREDIBLE, or take both.
Hang in there!

Very well said Frank!!
I went through the same thing when i started out. I think what Frank mentioned in post#4 combined with post #9 should help you to avoid the temptation overbetting.
Goodluck with whatever you choose to do."Sometimes it's not what you play, but what you don't play."

This was the thread I was ready to make. Incredible how I am up on the POD and Fades and my own plays only to double up and miss on the Seattle play and come away with no booty. 10-3 and then 9-4 and I wish could tell you I made money but no- I'll be honest about it. I played two second half NBA games and went with the flow of the games and loss and then Seattle lays down tied with one minute to go and a loss by 1/2 point. I must be greedy because there is no other answer to being up by 12units just to give it back."The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice.

Here's my advice, don't get excited about one play, if you play every play the same, you'll never get your ass handed to you. For example, yesterday, I just thought there was no way the Braves or Cardinals would lose, I wanted to bet everything on those two parlayed, and wouldn't you know it, they both lost. Pick you best three or five games, and play them all the same, try to win each day, just remember there's always tomorrow, there will always be good looking games to play, you don't have to bet on every game or bet every day. Good luck.

I have friend, that doesn't have his gambling under control, and it's because of him, that I do have it under control, everyday, he tries to win everything, if he loses a game, he bets more on another one, he bets half time lines and 5 inning games. I think 2nd half plays can be smart, but not if your just playing them to play them. You can have a losing day, don't panic. Study up, make your plays and deal with the consequences. There will always be plenty of things to bet on.
