  • Winning Points - sox-yanks

    Boston at N.Y. Yankees (3) 3rd, 6th, 7th

The Red Sox may have ultimately snapped their 86 year dry spell with a 2004 world Series win, but they struggled on the road throughout the regular season (-$1180) and they racked up substantial losses against lefthanders (-$990).That would suggest a play on the revenge thirsty Yankees in a Randy Johnson/David Wells opening night matchup (NY 22-6,+$1105 vs. southpaws at home). But the line will no doubt top 2 to 1 and Wells has too good a history playing in Yankee Stadium to lay that kind of price. We prefer to play on New York in other matchups if the price isn’t too high.*
PREFERRED: Yankees at -140 or less when righty meets righty.

I think the words "revenge thirsty Yankees" is a bit strong considering that it is the first game of the year;I am sure that neither the Yanks nor Sox are viewing it as Game 7 of the ALCS. It is the first game of the year, nothing more or nothing less.
I am sure some of the scamdicappers will also hype this game as an opening day lock(probably an openender for Brian Mac) and probably pick the Yankees.
The weather at best will be cold and damp, and no one really has any clue as to what will happen in the first game no matter how much they pretend they do. jmho

Where do these guys get these lines from its -190 on pinnacle, -210 on bodog, -140 is just riddiculous. maybe their not referring to tomorrows game, i dont know what the point of it is if thats the case, it makes no sense

Savage, that reminds me of a Loser Lawrence write-up this past college season. I don't recall the teams. In his write-up he said team A is looking for revenge. The only problem? The last time those two teams met wase three season earlier. Do one really think a team is chomping at the bit to get revenge from a loss a few seasons ago? Many of the players are gone. Most of the remaining players probably didn't play the previous game.

Yes the Yanks will be eager to make a statement. Doesn't one think the Sox also want to make a statement? "Hey, we beat you last year and we're going to do it again".

Frank- well said. I can see it now: since last October every multimillionaire Yankee going to his calendar at the end of the day, scratching off another day and saying to himself-"I can hardly wait until opening day;we are going to get the Sox ass on that day and show them who is really the boss here" and conversely the Sox shuddering in their boots hoping thnis dreaded day never happens.
