Tuesday NIT
The funny thing about the NIT is how it chooses who plays whom, and where; none of Final Four ventured on the road in the first three rounds. Guess this is what they wanted.........

Maryland, South Carolina both got to NIT semis with three home wins; Gamecocks had wins by 2,11,3 pts, while Terrapins beat won by 13,15,12, but they played Oral Roberts, Davidson and TCU, lesser foes. South Carolina was 2-3 as SEC road dog; four of their last five games were decided by three or less points, or in overtime. Terrapins played in spurts during their three home wins, which followed four straight losses.

Martelli promised that St Joe's would bring 6,000 fans to New York for this, which would make it home game for Hawks. Memphis won six of last seven games, with only loss in C-USA finals, when frosh PG Washington missed two FTs after buzzer in 75-74 loss. St Joe's is 15-2 in last seventeen games, losing by nine in finals of A-12 tournament. Hawks beat Hofstra, Holy Cross, Buffalo, all at home, all by less than ten points. Tigers beat Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Northeastern.

Game of the Day
Sonics @ Grizzlies-- Grizzlies lost three of last four games; seven of their last ten games stayed under total. Seattle won first two games of season series, by 5,9 points, with average total of 204; they had 5-game win streak snapped by a point last game, but are 1-5 vs the spread in last six games, with three of last four staying under the total.


Elsewhere, Lebron went off for 44 points last nite in win over Hornets, as Cavs overcame 11-pt halftime deficit, evening their record at 2-2 under Malone, but they have covered just one of last seven games. Clippers covered four of their last five road games.

Miami covered its last nine home games, but lost its last game at Charlotte; road team won all three of their tilts vs Toronto this year, with Raptors winning 94-92 here in November, and Heat winning by 8,15 pts. Toronto has covered seven of last ten road games.

Fourth game in five nights for Knicks, who are 0-3 so far on this trip, but Kobe Lakers lost last eight games (1-7 vs spread) and PG Adkins called Kobe "the GM" after last game in locker room, so natives are obviously a little restless. Knicks won first meeting, 117-115 Feb 28th.

· Seattle is 23-10 to Memphis including 8-2 the last three years

· The Lakers are 4-15 this year in revenge to a team in which they gave up 100 or more points in a loss

· New York has gone over 11-1 this year on the road when playing their third game in four nights
