Complimentary Selection
TWO COMPLIMENTARY WINNERS GO TONIGHT:
Let's start on the early card with North Carolina State getting it done over Wisconsin.
One thing is for sure, out of the eight Sweet 16 games, this could be the most all-around physical game, sparked by athleticism and physical tenacity. Both teams are well-coached, they're incredibly tough defensively and they both a run a disciplined and structured offense. Yet based on the times we've seen Wisconsin become vulnerable this season, I lend my confidence in senior swingman Julius Hodge - the Wolfpack's key player and one of the most complete players in the nation. And though many would say a team this far can't get much further with just one guy averaging double figures, this is not a clash in which many scorers will be needed. I like my chances with Herb Sendek's bunch, as it's played a much tougher schedule this season in the ACC, than the Badgers in an overrated Big 10 school.
We finish up on the late card with Utah/Kenutcky Over.
It would be really easy for an numbnuts to assume defense-minded Kentucky will struggle to score, while Utah will stay conservative with really only one main guy. And though both teams in my eyes lack great individual talent, I do believe we have a pair of units that are cohesive and well-coached. For Kentucky, forward Chuck Hayes and guard Kelenna Azubuike will step up to produce tonight against the Utes. And with a huge depth advantage, don't be surprised to see stong bench scoring for the extra puch tonight. On the other end, Utah will once again heavily depend on center Andrew Bogut, who certainly may stake claim to being the nation's best player. And though he didn't score much against Oklahoma in the second round, he does everything else (defend, rebound, pass) in those games he needs to step up. The Utes know that to win this game, it will take guards Tim Drisdom and Marc Jackson to avoid turnovers and drain from the arc. So while you're contemplating the obvious Under, I'll be the contrarion here and go Over.
