    Game of the Day
Spurs @ Knicks-- Duncan was flown back to Alamo by Pistons yesterday, after he sprained ankle; he is out for a few games. Spurs won eight of last 11, with five of last seven staying under total, but they lost Sunday, and are obviously much weaker without #21. Knicks Knicks lost three of last four games, but are 8-6 in last 14 (9-4 vs spread last 13); four of their last five games stayed under the total.

Elsewhere, Orlando ended seven-game loss streak with win at Portland, in Jent's second game as interim coach; they split pair of games vs Bobcats this year, and Francis is suspended indefinitely after kicking photog. Bobcats lost their last nine games (3-6 vs spread).

Hawks lost four in row and 17 of last 18 games, as last three went over total; they're 0-2 vs Chicago this season, losing by 25,10 pts. That said, Atlanta is 7-2 vs spread in last nine road games. Bulls lost four of last five games.

Mavericks won four of last five games as Avery Johnson is now coach- their last four games stayed under the total Dallas is 3-0 vs Hornets this year, winning by 15,8,3 pts, but Mavs are 1-11 vs spread last dozen games. Hornets lost five of last seven, with four of last five going over.

Portland lost four in row and ten of last 11 games; they are 1-8 since firing Cheeks (2-7 vs spread) and are 1-6 vs spread last seven road games. Last six Blazer games all stayed under. Clippers allowed 109.3 ppg last three games, losing last two- over is 7-1 their last eight games

TCU, Western Michigan both won first round games on road, now Horned Frogs still on road, vs team that last played week ago- TCU won at Miami Wednesday Both sides have four seniors in rotation. TCU is 4-6 on road, in league/NIT games. Western Michigan was 4-5 as fave at home in MAC games.

Ralph Willard is big-time coach, Patriot League teams now give scholarships (see Bucknell) and Holy Cross is 17-1 in last 18 games; this is big thing for them, while St Joe's almost made Final Four last year, although lot of new players for Hawks this year. Matter of fact, St Joe's lost 69-62 to Bucknell Dec 28. St Joe's is 13-2 in its last fifteen games.

Wichita State's offense has revived itself in NIT; they shot 62.5%, 57.4% in two NIT wins, but also played extra game, beating Western Kentucky Saturday, while Commodores were off since win at Indiana five nights ago. Vandy lost 67-53 to MVC kingpin So. Illinois in November; they were 5-2 as SEC home fave this year
