NBA Opinion (Possible Best Bet)
New Orleans (+13) 85 SAN ANTONIO 92
The Spurs have been playing at less than full strength lately, losing both Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili for the last two games. Duncan is expected to play tonight, Ginobili is still out and now pointguard Tony Parker is questionable for tonight’s game with a thigh contusion. The Spurs are only 2-6-1 ATS as a home favorite of 13 points or more this season even when healthy and I doubt that they’ll extend their stars too much if they feel they can win this game while limiting the minutes played by Duncan and Parker. It may also be tough for the Spurs to take the Hornets seriously after beating them 3 times this season by an average of 16 points and New Orleans applies to a solid 115-58-8 ATS big road underdog revenge situation. New Orleans has been playing well since trading Baron Davis and the Hornets are now 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games and 20-10 ATS this season on the road, including a 10 point loss as an 18 point dog in their only visit to San Antonio. If I assume that Duncan and Parker are at full strength (and Ginobili is out) then I get a fair line of Spurs by 13 ½ points while my margin analysis, which I use for games involving big numbers, favors the Spurs by 13 points. Given the fair line and the good situation the Hornets look like a pretty good play and they have a 57% chance of covering at the current line of +13 points. I’ll consider the Hornets an opinion at the current number and would Upgrade New Orleans to a 2-Star Best Bet if they become an underdog of 14 points or more."3 Stacks of High Society."
