NCAA Basketball
3 Units on Marquette -7 -110
At 17-9 including their recent 21-point blowout over Louisville, Cincinnati is probably in the field of 64 but don’t expect the Bearcats to last very long. Cincy is 0-4 SU on the road since January 23rd losing at Depaul, Louisville, Charlotte, and Memphis by a combined 39 points. It’s senior day at Marquette where the Golden Eagles are 14-1 SU winning their home games on average 82-64. Marquette has been idle since last Saturday and they are 14-5 ATS with at least five days of rest since 1997. Cincy is 3-10 ATS on Saturdays this season, 1-6 ATS following a win by more than 15 points, and 1-5 ATS after scoring 80 or more points this season. The Bearcats are indeed strange scoring 55 or less points in 3/5 games recently and 101 and 87 in the other two. I’d rather be on Marquette’s fairly consistent bandwagon throughout the season. A much better Cincinnati team lost by 14 here last February as a 3-point road favorite.
4 Units on Memphis U -3½ -110
Wow, you really have to give it up for Memphis Coach John Calipari. The Tigers entered this year losing four players that averaged 9.8 points a game or more a season ago including Dajuan Wagner at 21.2. Just imagine how good Memphis would be had Wagner hung around another season? The Tigers enter Saturday on a 10-game winning streak going 9-0-1 ATS. Generally teams that enjoy this kind of continuous success in Vegas become overvalued. But that doesn’t seem to be the case yet with Memphis. This 21-5 team just isn’t getting much attention or respect. The Tigers are 6-0 ATS this year following three or more consecutive spread victories. They are 12-1 ATS the last three years off a conference road victory. The Tigers have also covered 15/20 when beating a conference opponent by 10 points or more in their last game. UAB is a soft 16-10 as they really haven’t beaten anybody of caliber and have been terrible against the upper-echelon of Conference USA where Memphis is obviously among that elite group.
3 Units on Georgetown -2 -110
Notre Dame is now 0-7 ATS when coming off a home loss the last three years. The Irish are also 1-9 ATS off an upset defeat as a home favorite. They are 2-14 ATS when coming off a conference defeat. Certainly Notre Dame’s slide can be attributed to their lack of defense yielding 87, 95, and 92 points in their last three games. Only a 1-point win at West Virginia prevents the Irish from a four-game Big East road losing skid as well. At 14-12 Georgetown probably needs a win here and then advancing to the Big East Tournament championship to have any hope of the NCAA tournament. Winning three of their last four, I’m giving the Hoyas the benefit of the doubt today.GOOD LUCK ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!
