sorry about earlier reply....sounded dumb. i was still inserting coffee.

        basic and simple definition:

a system by which you control the amounts and types of wagers you make.

        For example:

you must establish a starting bankroll.....$1000

then you must establish your limit on the line at any one particular time......10-15%

establish wager amounts for specific types of bets....
        straights 2-3%
        parlays 0.2-0.8%

key to the system is to be rigid!!!

        don't stray

best advice is draw up your own system on paper....it will take some creative thought.

stay within your means.....and have fun with it!!

        best of luck

          jordan,

This is how I do it. It may very from the others. I bet all my games for the same amount. 1 unit= $110 to win $100. I sometimes bump my bets up to 2 units = $220 to win $200. Rarely I'll post a 5 unit best bet = 550 to win $500. My highest bet is a 10 unit play. Obviously the same amounts apply. In the past 365days I've had only 7 10 unit wagers. I cap my own games daily. If you notice in my threads I dont often play nearly as many games daily as some of the others. This isnt a knock on them, this is just my style. Only sport I follow selections from here on blindly is MLB. Not cause I dont know about baseball, but because I havent been wagering on it long enough to feel its profitable enough to play games on my own. So for mlb I follow many of the solid cappers on this site. Hope this cleared up any issues that you have. If not feel free to ask me anything else you'd like to know.

I have a few betting rules that I very rarely break.

First, 95% of my wagers are 2% of my bankroll. Assuming I have a $1000 bankroll then 2% unit wager is $20. A few times a week I'll play 5% of my bankroll. Very rarely will I play more that 5%. Less than once a month.

I adjust my bankroll weekly on Mondays. If my bankroll increases to $1200. Then my 2% wager is $24. If my bankroll decreases to $900. Then my wager amount is $18. When my bankroll doubles I remove 50% of my bankroll. I keep my wagers based on a $2000 bankroll or $40

Finally, a few personal rules that I hardly ever break.

Once all of my bets are made I DON'T bet anymore on a game I already played nor do I bet on any other games. This rule avoids chasing. Too many bettors chase. Also, many bettors when they are up for the day or week make needless wagers.

I very rarely, watch the games I bet. I do this for a few reasons. First, I don't need the aggravation. Second, it keeps my emotions out of my capping process. In the past I'd make a bet against the team I just lost on because I was pissed. I wan't being objective. It also helps chasing after a tough loss.

Finally, it's not a rule but one of the most important lessons in sport betting. Learn to ACCEPT loses. Read the threads at this forum. I truly believe many bettors expect to win every game. The whining! The fix is on. ETC. Guys you can make lots of money hitting 54-55%. Hitting 55% means losing 45%. Forget the tough losses. Forget the 1/2 losses. Move on.

Recently, a fellow member emailed me with a plan to double his bankroll in one year. His plan was based on 54% winners. He will reach his goal. With the cappers at this site 54% is very realistic. One of the most important traits this member possesses is PATIENCE. Be Patient!

Frank, that is great outline to bet with! I don't do the exact same thing but I figure out what I can afford to lose out of bankroll on one play. That play is my big play then I go down accordingly. So if a 5* = 50, then a 4* = 40 and so on. I bet way smaller in basketball/baseball then I do in football.

I know you were joking. However, I think it's a great idea for a sport betting newbie to open an account at Pinnacle for $100 and bet $1 or $2 a game. It's a good way to learn. There's lots to learn.

Begin w/Total bankroll willing to lose. i play 1-5 units. 5 unit play is 5% of bankroll etc. This allows me play more when winning (larger bankroll, larger bets) & to reel it in when losing.
