I have not ever posted a selection for a game but after attending the San Diego State/New Mexico game on Saturday as I left I told myself to look for opening lines on Sunday night. Well the opening line is Air Force –2 ½. The significance of this is there is a possibility that Marcus Slaughter may not be able to play and if he does he will not be effective, as he has been. Here is an excerpt form the San Diego Union on Sunday
“SDSU played the final 11:55 without sophomore forward Marcus Slaughter, who sprained his big left toe on the first play of the second half. Slaughter did it all early, scoring the team's first 11 points and grabbing SDSU's first six rebounds over the opening 11 minutes. He finished with 13 points and eight boards in 23 minutes. Slaughter won't practice today and will be re-evaluated before tomorrow night's regular-season home finale against Air Force. “
"I jammed it," he said. "I couldn't go. I couldn't run."
In looking back at the first game this year between the two teams on January 29th, Marcus scored 12 points and had 7 offense rebounds along with 8 defense rebounds for a total of 15 out of the teams 33 rebounds for the game. He has been the consistence of the Aztec team all year and if he doesn’t play or plays just a little as it is Senior Night I think the Aztec just won’t have a chance. There has been only two consistent scores being Slaughter and Brandon Heath. Teams are well aware now and have been playing them accordingly. So if Slaughter has limited minutes then I see no way the Aztecs can win.
The only setback could be Air Force on the road overall is 3-9. With wins at Colorado State and BYU in league play.
Take it for what it is worth but it will be my biggest play on Monday.
