I never would have guessed this but Sustain Dan and crswir both did. It is "A Season of the Brink: A Year With Bobby Knight, and the Indiana Hoosiers" written in 1986.

One of the best and funniest sport books I read was "Buried Lies" by golfer, Peter Jocobsen.
