  • Situation with Kent State-Buffalo Tonight

The teams met 1-19-05 at Kent State and Kent won 85-80 in OT

The interesting part of that game was that the officials did not make it to the game that night because of weather problems and two of the officials that night were ex Kent State players. Do not know how that would have been an option, but that is what happened

    Fouls called that night

    Buffalo 29
    Kent State 15

    Free throw attempts that night

    Buffalo 20
    Kent State 37

Something to consider in looking at this game as I see them trying to "even things out" after the big disparity in the first game

Here is a little more info about the game off another site:

Apparently, the first time these two teams played at Kent St., 2 of the 3 refs were Kent St. alums! The final score of that game was 85-80 Kent St. The BU radio announcers talked about this during the radio broadcast. Don't really know how the MAC can let this happen.

Offical #1, Mike Roberts: played for KSU '84-'87 CAPTAIN 1987
Official #2, Mike Foote : played for KSU '69-'71 CAPTAIN 1971

This info was gathered from a thread on the ubfan.com fan site:

"Mike Foote has refereed a few games for us (BU) already too, actually i just looked it up.....these are the games that mike foote has reffed for us:

    Niagra....BU 31 fouls......they had 28

    Bowling Green...... BU 25 fouls.....they had 19

    Toledo........BU 14 fouls.......they had 21

    Kent State........BU 29 fouls.....they had 15

Mike Roberts also reffed a game for us before this, the Fairleigh Dickinson game:

    Farleigh Dickinson........23 fouls........they had 22

"So it seems to me that fouls have been pretty even between the two teams before the Kent State game. then all of the sudden we have 14 more fouls than Kent State, which just happens to be where those two played college basketball at. The game was reffed completely biased, no doubt about it."

From some other information that is available, most think that the game was biased, others think that Buffalo just played bad. Regardless, I was on the game before, and will definitely play it again, as the Buffalo crowd should be rocking and I believe Buffalo wants (or should want) revenge.

Only a normal play for me, nothing fancy, per my "new system".

It is UB the University of Buffalo not BU. Shouldn't you fellas at least know the name of the school before you try to handicap a game?
