  • Best Way to Hedge an Eagles Future bet?

In the preseason I bet the eagles to win the superbowl at 9 to 1.

since they are the dogs, you would have to lay -280 or -270 to hedge the bet.

is there any kind of prop bet that would be a good hedge?

I was thinking about betting McNabb over 32.5 pass attempts, because if the eagles are getting blown out, he will be passing the ball more then running.

But then again he could get hurt, ruining that bet..

    any ideas guys?
Thank you Ryan Howard! <--- ITS A WINNER!

The only thing I can think of is, taking NE in a tease with either the over or under. So it would be NE -1 and over 41 or under 53. I think the over 41 is the better play.
I took NE 7 to 1, so I hedged mine, hoping for a close game.

I was gonna suggest what bigweiner said, or this is much riskier you could do a parlay anytime before the game, say a two team ML parlay with NE and somebody with a good chance to win/ATS. Thats what i would do, GOOD LUCK
would suck to go this far and come out with nothing

He's obviously not a fan. Every team has guys that jump on and off the bandwagon!

i am from philly, and an eagles fan. but money comes first.

Cant bet with my heart, itll screw you every time.

I have $400 on them at 9 to 1.. so $3600 is a HUGE amount of money to me (may not be to some of you guys).

I was thinking about betting each Pats Player to win the MVP, cause if they lose the game there is NO way that a Pat will get the MVP of the game...

Take NE on the ML to cover your $400 investment. It'll cost about $1100. If NE wins you break even. If Philly wins you make about $2500. I'd do it.

Not a bad idea! I'd consider taking two 7 point teasers NE/UNDER and NE/OVER. You might win both teasers.

Why tease New England with the over or under? Why not tease it with some other basketball game that day if you like it better?
In any case, unless you do what Frank says and tease it with BOTH the over and under, you could lose both your Phil. future bet and your teaser if you guess wrong on the total?
I would probably do a teaser with New England and leave the other spot open until after the Superbowl and perhaps do the same with a New England and open parlay and see what happens in the Superbowl first.
This is just a gut reaction, and if Frank or someone thinks it makes no sense, please let me know how my thinking is flawed.
ps If NE wins, then you could also try to middle your teaser if you really want to chance it.

                        Jackal

1)your first idea was not bad, , if they lose by more than 7, mcnabb will have more than 32.5 attemps in all likelihood.......

2)no reason to bet multiple patriot players to win MVP, unless dillon has 150 and 2 TD's, vinatieri kicks 7 FG's or harrison has 3 int's, brady will win the MVP if NE wins, the world loves Brady........

3)find some college basketball games tomorrow that you really like and parlay them with the patriots on the money line........

either way, i would definitely hedge my bet, $3600 is a lot and like all futures bets, you have forgotten about the $400 and you want something back.....personally, i think new england is going to win by a lot more than 7, more like 20+, but i am not an nfl capper nor do i play one on tv, but your hedging srategy could be conservative or risky....depends on the type of gambler you are

listen to everyones advice here and make the decision you feel is right
                        good luck

stick with your bet. they will win the game. just imagine yourself $3600 richer and superbowl champions.

This is the best idea I've heard yet. If the team you play tomorrow wins than you are home free. If they lose than you still have lots of room for Plan C.

                            IMHO don't consider not hedging.
