I would call it a speculative play rather than nice play.
People went against undefeated Boston College several times of late and got burned.
Then last night folks jumped on Providence figuring they were due even though they have been playing horrible of late;the reasoning was also that Pitt. would have a letdown after some big wins of late;you saw the result.
I probably won't touch this game tonight, but my cardinal rule is NEVER go against a team which is undefeated or play on one which is playing lousy no matter what logic you try to use;I have been burned too many times in the past by thinking otherwise.
Good luck with your play though, as these kinds of games do win sometimes.

Not to change sports, but many people said first the Pats would not cover against Indy because of injured players, blah, blah, blah and then against Pitt., blah, blah, blah and now Phil.
I remember several years ago when Oakland won 20 something games in a row in baseball, and after they had won about 10 games in a row, every night folks would come on the chatlines and come up with reasons why you should go against them rather than bet on them;to me this kind of logic makes no sense.
As I stated in previous post, MSU could easily win tonight, but I think over time it is not a good idea to go against undefeated teams or hot teams on winning streaks.

Don't mean to rub it in, but you should NEVER and I mean NEVER bet against a team that is undefeated or on a winning streak in any sport unless you like parting with your money.
If Sports Services were licensed and I was the commisioner, I would revoke the license of any service like Godspicks which gave this out as a GOY.
There is no way a play like this warrants a GOY status unless you pick the team on the winning streak like Illinois;sorry Godsey-that is reality.
I would say the same thing even if MSU won.
Then again, maybe someone got a nice kickback;see my other thread relative to this matter.

ps I should add that when I say don't go against a team which is undefeated, it applies more when the game is pretty much pick em rather than when the undefeated team is favored by a good number of points;then I can certainly see making a small bet on the team which is the dog;that didn't apply tonight, as game was pretty much pick the winner only.
