  • Question for Love Doc...ah heck...Q for everyone!

In RJ's recent post, LoveDoc had a response that caught my attention...he displayed many words of wisdom that i too have noticed just from my own experience...

LoveDoc said that you can't cherry pick your cappers...you have to stick to one...also, pro 'scamdicappers' are all BS...we all know that the cappers on THIS board are more consistent

LoveDoc (as well as myself) also noticed that cappers usually rate their plays on a star system (1* means 1% of bankroll) and how their 5* or 10* plays do just as well as their 1*...

    so my question is:

Is there any reason to do a star system at all? Is it better bet the same amount on each play, or do people notice that the star system makes more money in the end?

Also, do you guys think that betting one game a day (i.e., for like 5* a play) is better/worse than playing 5 games a day for 1*?

your feedback would be greatly appreciated...

I believe I posted those comments about cherry picking and scamdicappers.

It's of my opinion (I stress the word opinion) that most cappers 1* plays are as good as their 5* plays. The only difference? In theory a $100 player will play $500 on a 5*. Risking more $$$$ equals making more $$$$. Providing they win.

i NEVER like to play only 1 play a day, because the game I think I like the best usually doesn't win, and most of my other ones do. That is why almost all of my plays are 3*. Every once in a while, and not often at all, I will make something a 6* - 10*. Again it is VERY rare. I tell people who follow me to take everything for the same amount, or maybe vary a little between a 2* and a 5*. My *'s aren't a % of my bankroll either, for me a 5* means $500.

I'm not a believer of the star system. I would say 95% of my wagers I'm risking 2% of my bankroll. On occassion I risk more. I NEVER play more than 5% on any one game.

Quik4Life, I can tell you one thing that I came to realize this past season is that a star system is the best way to go unless all your bets are going to be the same amount. Many people have the tendancy like myself that if they are having good Saturday or Sunday and say have a game at 9:00 that evening that you like to go big on the game although it may not be one of your better ranked plays that day. There is nothing wrong playing a game for $100. That is the lesson I learned this past season. Rating your games before any of them start to me is the way to go

RJ, you raised a good point. Look at many of the GOY members post here. My guess they are well below 50%. I think many of us lose our top plays but do better with the 'runner-up' plays.

There was a member here not too long ago had a decent W/L% but was down a boat load of units. His record with his 5* and 10* was lousy. The rest of his other plays was very good.

                  quik4life,

I primarily play the ponies... My wager amount for a given race is based on what angle/factor/figure that I find causes me to make that race a play. I have all sorts of angles, from high percentage favorite angles, to low percentage, high return longshot angles... For example, I have a high percentage chalk angle that when played optimally hits 86% of the time for a 5% return... where as one of my longshot angles hits 12% of the time for 45% profit... I will play the high percentage angle higher than my longshot angle... likewise, the more comfortable I feel with an angle, the stronger I will play it (some of my angles hold up over 8,000 examples).

Sportswise, all my wagers are generally the same amount.... much like RJ said about his top plays not hitting and his others doing well... I play all my sports plays at the same level (at least for now).

Hope this helps, and welcome aboard!

oh yeah, nice avatar.... you must be taking notes from the avatar-master, RJ.
