  • Well Steeler Fans....

There is your gift from the football Gods, let's see what you can do with it. I know the Jets offense did absolutley nothing and I know Ben had a really bad game and I know Bettis fumbled close to the red zone. But the Football Gods were smiling upon you tonight and you get to play NE/Indy next week. Good luck and I hope you win it but you're gonna have to play a lot better than tonight.

I know I'll be rooting for you guys

    Phil

      Steelers

The Jets totally outplayed the Steelers and deserved that win.It just helps me next week make up my mind.Indy or NE,it doesn't matter.Bill Cowher is way too conservative. He will get outcoached next week.

You're kidding me! I know the Jets had a great opportunity to win the game. However, The Jets totally outplayed the Steelers is an iccurate statement. The Steelers had 23 1st downs to 17. They outrushed the Jets 193-110. A huge descrepancy. Pitt had almost 100 more total yards. The Jets scored 3 offensive points.

The difference was the turnovers and the punt return. The Jets were outplayed in most facets of the game.

Conservative? Steelers threw the ball 30 times. How is that conservative? As I stated in another thread, good teams find ways to win games they should lose.

I just think the Jets played with a lot more heart and the Steelers were very conservative playing not to lose instead of playing to win.Two field goals missed saved their ass.If you can't get up to play a playoff game in your own house, then when can you?Yeah they won,but they shouldn't be too proud of how they played.JMO.

Are you forgetting that a Steelers also got a TD which came off a Chad pick giving them the ball at the 20. Steelers offense was bad and they will get eaten alive regardless of who they face next weekend.

                  Stats?

Frank, how can you use offensive stats an indicator of who outplayed who? The Jets scored on ST and D giving 2 more possesions to the Steelers on O. I sure hope they outgained the Jets offense. Don't get me wrong, as I'm not saying the Jets O did anything to help win the game (please fire Paul [i can't] Hackett), but to say the Jets didn't deserve to win (aka, out perform) is tough to understand.

Of course I'm forgetting the Steelers had a easy TD. LOL

Look at the box score of the game. Steelers didn't play as poorly as many think. They averaged 4.9 per play on offense. Their defense allowed 275 total yards and 3 points. They nearly lost because I 3 bad plays. The punt return and 2 INTs.

Next week the Steelers will be getting points at home because of yesterday's 'performance'. I'll probably be taking the points.

Of course I'm going to use stats to determine who outplayed who. What should I use? I agree the Steelers had two more possessions than the Jets. That being said the Steelers had better offensive averages per play rushing and throwing the ball. Let's not forget Pitt was driving for another score when Bettis fumbled.

Pitt defense allowed 275 total yards. They sacked Pennington threee times. Jets 3rd down efficiency 3-12. Horrible!

Aside from turnovers and return yards, Pitt dominated every other stat category.

Frank-do you really think If Pats somehow squeak by today, they will be favored over Pitt. in Pittsburgh especially in view of the rout administered by Pitt. the first time? It might be a pick, but I doubt Pats would be favored.

Yes I do. JMO. It might be a PICK. NE is Americas c-over sweetheart. They are the defending champs. Pitt's 'lousy' performance will be fresh in everyone's mind.

Of course, lots depend on today's game. Much can change.

Let's not forget. Vegas doesn't set the line strictly on the teams. They factor how they think the public will bet.

It was OK last year when Boston got the breaks and won the World Series. It not always the better team that wins, it's the Luckiest!!!GO STEELERS
I'm not going to miss going to the game next week, like I did this week. But after the funeral and wake, I decided to go to a friends house that invited everyone from the funeral. And it was great cause the family showed up that burried their Dad..
