  • Possible Texas Longhorn Information

I have a good friend who goes to the University of Texas and has some good sources down there who says leading scorer and rebounder PJ Tucker will be declared academically ineligible and isn't traveling with the team to Nebraska for tomorrow's game

It has been posted on a few other websites I frequent including a University of Texas messageboard also, so this is more than 1 source.

It hasn't been announced or confirmed, but I thought I'd pass it along for those who care.

    Thanks

Gerk......ALL info like this is helpful from local "areas" that the board can use!! It makes a BIG difference on getting lines the night before at a premium......especially in a game like this that Texas should win without him but the spread becomes a real issue come morning! The public wakes late for these games mostly!

THANKS! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU ON ALL YOUR PLAYS! Goldv

I guess that's why the line is 2.5!

Sounds like a play on Texas for me. I love playing teams whem their star is out. We get value with the line and teammates often rise for the occasion. It's their chance to shine

Couldn't agree with you more....Linesmakers adjust for this, reason for low line, and have a tendency to put too much emphasis on one player....Many of times, I've seen guys come off the bench, play their ass off, and I say "Why in the hell is he not starting", or "He could be starting for any other school"..

Most recent example of "too much emphasis on one player being out" is Kansas recently...

Gerk: I live in Ok, and the paper is full of Big12 BS...They say the same thing...Thanks for the input--thats sharing--it's what we're all about...kapt

Just as a follow up on this. While Tucker played today, his status for Monday and the rest of the season is still in question. I hear it was a question of either an appeal or the NCAA needing more information before this may become official. It is now in print from after the game today

Tucker's status could be in jeopardy

03:47 PM CST on Saturday, January 15, 2005

By CHIP BROWN / The Dallas Morning News

LINCOLN, Neb. - Texas sophomore foward P.J. Tucker acknowledged after Saturday's 63-53 win over Nebraska that he is facing academic issues that could impact his eligibility for the second semester which begins Tuesday.

"There's some stuff going on right now, but we're going to keep it under wraps," Tucker said. "Nothing's happened. Nothing's official, so there's nothing really to talk about." Tucker said he didn't know how quickly he would learn about whether he will contiune to be eligible for the second sememster.
