New England may get away with it this week, but Pittsburgh (or anyone else) could NOT get away with it next week as the NFL takes over all field related operations for the conference championship games.

New England has been dominant, last year they weren't the best team, but found ways to win!! This year too many obstacles to overcome even with home field!!

I know what your saying about Manning, he never beat Florida in college and hasn't won a game in Foxboro. I still don't see the colts scoring less than 24 pts no matter what the weather is!

I remember like 15 years ago, Miami left the field uncovered when they played Jets for championship. I was at game, AJ Duhe 3 int's, field was a mud puddle in Orange Bowl so this is not something new .. Good luck on all your plays this weekend

The Field was covered late yesterday. If you think this is BS than your a rookie gambler. It has been done by every team in every sport at one time or another. Coach Red for the Celtics used to crank the heat in the visitors locker room. I've heard of other football teams opening huge doors on each end zone before teams try a field goal and basketball teams tightening up the rim on the opposition then fixing it at halftime. It's far from BS as teams have been using "Home Field Advantages" for years and if you don't like it then grab homefield adv. yourself.

seaofred and everyone else that has called me a 12 yr old or a teen listen i have gambled for a while i am 32 and gambled at least 12 years but why bash everyone on this site i am here because i like seeing everyones opinions when i make a post that i thought was something everyone should hear about because to me weather plays a big factor when you play a game.In some cases its the weather the days prior to the game in this case just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Not trying to be rude because in my opinion this is the best site on the web but as soon as one person bashes another everyone jumps on this even happened to RJ a couple of weeks ago and look what he has done for everybody.

FOXBORO, Mass. - National Football League officials said the field at Gillette Stadium is in good condition, despite the New England Patriots [stats, news]' decision not to cover it during recent storms.

The NFL sent a representative to check the field on Thursday amid concerns that it was becoming a quagmire in advance of Sunday's playoff game with the Indianapolis Colts.

``Our representative said there was no issue with the field,'' NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told The Boston Globe. ``He reported that the field was dry, the footing is excellent.''

The Patriots didn't cover the field Wednesday, but Aiello said that's because the grounds crew was painting it.

The field was covered Thursday night and Aiello said it would be covered on Friday night. The NFL requires the field to be covered on the day and night before a game if there is any possibility of precipitation.

When the Patriots refused to cover the field earlier this week, there was speculation coach Bill Belichick [news] was hoping to muck up conditions to slow down the explosive Colts offense.

But Belichick dismissed those questions Thursday, saying ``My job is not to pull weeds.''
