It's great to have a forum just for us nutty NASCAR fans. I hope that once we get closer to racing that there will be a little more action in this forum.
Gordon gets #5 this year!!!! Let's see if I can stir up some coments about that one!!!!!

Who cares if it's a sport! It's the Highest attended event in the U.S. out of everything on the Las Vegas boards and they do that 36 times a year! Somebody must like it to get 1/4 Million people to buy tickets for and event. You can fill the "Big House" in Michigan, Nehlan Stadium in Tenn. , and Fenway Park in Boston and still not equal the people that will attend the "Brickyard 400" in Indianapolis this year. Maybe you "Nascar Haters" are the one's missing out! There is good money to be made in this "Sport"!

Wayne, i agree with you that it sells out everywhere everytime there is an event. Nascar blown up the world years ago and its still strong today.. But, i have to agree with superzero....Its not a sport. I dont hate, nor do i likenascar, i just never fallowed it.

Neither is "More Girls" and it's the most viewed thread EVER at this site! I guess it's not always about "Sport" here.

Sport or no sport, i think people underestimate what it takes to do what they do every week. It is TREMENDOUS amounts of pressure and stress. One mental error (like other sports) can cost you your life. Literally, and has many times. I think that's one thing people love about it. Your always waiting for the "Big One". I never watched it until about 5 years ago and it just started to grow on me. It is actually pretty interesting if you gave it a chance.

I also know ESPN c overs EVERY race and often does stories about it during non race days. They also have a whole motor"sports" section on their website.

I believe it is a "Motor Sport" just like motorcross and other things of that nature. It is in the "Sports" section of EVERYTHING you see or read so maybe it's time for you guys to just give in to the fact that it just might be one!

                        Sport???....Oh ya!!

Ask Ricky Rudd if it's a sport of not. Three years ago at the Martinsville race(for you Nascar illiterate is a short .5 mile race track and very demanding PHYSICALLY) which is held in the late spring It was 90plus degrees outside and 120 track temp. Inside the race car is easily around 150 or better. Ricky Rudd lost his air cooler to his helmet. Now this is not to be mistaked with Air conditioner. The air cooler is a hose that attaches to the helmet with a fresh air intake from the front nose of the car that funnels the air into the helmet with a fan sometimes. He lost his air cooler around lap 200 of a 500 lap race. He completed that race and won!!!!! The had to pull him from his car and give him a victory lane I.V. drip plus lots of ice that they packed into his drivers suit. You ask Ricky Rudd if race car drivers are athletes of not. He raced almost 3 1/2 hours without proper liquid intake and made it without complaning. I don't know one Football, basketball, baseball, hockey etc. player that can play a whole entire game without having one glass of water. Every time one leaves the game the first thing they grab for is a drink.

Don't want to hear it not today!!!!!

RACE CAR DRIVERS ARE ATHLETES JUST ACCEPT IT AND STOP CRYING!!!!

                            Wayne,

I've never been to a Nascar event, but I had a couple buddies in college that went to some and they said there's nothing like it.

RJ, Would you believe i have had season tickets to the Loudon, N.H. race since the first year there and i've never gone. I have 4 tickets to both Nextel Cup races and i always sell them (usually for face value). I like having them but something always comes up + i would rather see a race in Bristol, Tenn, but i have never seen one either. I enjoy it and do VERY well wagering on it. It's like being at the track at home with my 60 inch HDTV and Home Theater system. Seriously, you would not believe the sound of a race, it's makes your heart pound when the cars are coming at you! It's "Awesome", and when i have the Winner that's nice too!
