Following a 2-14 bowl season, I figured I'd take it pretty easy on the playoffs. Had SD tied into 4 different teasers, one with SL and one with SD Under, and sure enough, Marty's balls shrink into his stomach when they get to the 23 and he thinks a 40-yarder is automatic. Rookie kicker in less than perfect field conditions, and Marty becomes a conservative puss. I knew that Kaeding was going to miss it, just knew it.....UGH!

I feel exactly the same way - had SD tied in to a few other plays. I cannot understand how you move the ball methodically down the field, get in range for a 40 yarder, and then get ultra-conservative and run THREE plays into the line. How is a 40 yarder, by a rookie, off a muddy field a gimmie? You have got to stay aggressive, like the Jets did, when you got in that area. If they were just outside the 10 maybe, but not at the 23! This is just another example why Schottenheimer is such a LOSER in the playoffs! -
