I am in the same boat. Auburn completely put its offense in "shutdown" mode in the 4th Quarter. Tubberville is known in the SEC as "the gambler". He is a coach who will go for it on 4th and 1 from his own 29 yard line during the 1st quarter, but won't go for it on 4th and goal from the Va Tech 1 yard line?

Some may say that Va Tech missed a short FG and failed on 4th and goal from the 1 foot line. That is all part of the game. Auburn had its share of failures inside the Va Tech 10-yard line that cost them several points as well.

Fact of the matter is that Auburn should not allow Va Tech to score on an 80-yard TD pass while it is in "prevent mode" on defense. A prevent defense is designed to "prevent" a long TD pass from happening. You can't argue that.

I don't believe games are fixed, but I do think 90% of the coaches play not to lose once they get a lead in the 2nd half. This is especially true in the NFL where wins and not ****** are important. Usually in college ball, teams try to run up the score to impress the pollsters. In this situation, Auburn should never have kicked field goals inside th 10 yard line. They should have went for the touchdowns and either blew out Virginia Tech or at least made them start their drives deep in their own territory. I would never kick field goals inside the 10 yard line and believe games are decided by field position. Even though I thought Auburn was the better team, I made a small bet on Virg Tech just to watch the game knowing both teams had good defenses.

A friend of mine once told me, if you're going to gamble on sporting events, only bet on underdogs that you think can win their games outright. If only I took his advice.

The fact of the matter is when teams go into prevent modes, they quit attacking and become soft, giving up lots of yards. Auburn didn't care if VT scored, they were up 10 points and knew it would take 2 scores to beat them. They didn't care about the spread being backdoored, they only wanted to win, be it by 100 or 1. I take it you didn't play much football, not to know that.
Take some time off and wait for the NCAA playoffs. Save up some money in a seperate acct. aside from your checkbook. You got to have a bankroll you can afford to lose, before you lose it or you'll be sad evrytime you lose money and not enjoy gambling.
The #1 rule in gambling is never lose more than 10% of your bankroll. You'll be able to gambling and enjoy it more.
