Bowls YTD: 5-3 (with one pending Friday)
4* Bowl GOY Wisconsin +8
I believe Wisconsin will win this game straight up. The Badgers defense was immovable the first nine games of the year and fell apart in the last two games when All-American d-linemen Hawthorne and James were hurt. They're healthy now. Star RB Davis closes out his career behind a great OL with four senior starters---two of whom will play in the NFL. Alvarez has a great bowl record with several upset wins straight up. Georgia isn't bad but actually had a softer schedule than many realize and played poorly against Auburn, a team that has a similar style of play as Wisconsin. Two good defenses here which is another reason to think the score will be rather close. Even if I'm wrong about Wisconsin winning, 8 is a lot of points. (I'm making this my top bowl play despite the fact that I love both V-Tech and Oklahoma to score upset wins but all three are very strong plays for me.)
1* Texas A & M -3 (-120)
I'll take the incredible Big 12 South over the SEC (which I think was unusually weak this year). I'll take Franchione over Fulmer. I'll take a Texas team playing in Dallas. I'll take a resurgent program against one that seems adrift. I'll take a team that almost beat Oklahoma against one that lost by ten to overrated Auburn. And I'll certainly go against a defense that gave up 64 points to Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
