Today is the day that I'm releasing my 5* College Football Game of the Year. I've won 100% of my 5* College plays this year, and I'm 30-8 since December 2001 on my 5* College Football selections. Iowa State--At 6:30 pm, our selection is on Iowa State, as the Cyclones fall into a Bowl system of mine which is 41-11 ATS since 1980. And from a fundamental standpoint, Miami-OH will have a difficult time moving the ball against the Cyclones' defense. The RedHawks gained just 58 yards rushing in the MAC Championship game against Toledo, and I expect ISU to load up against the pass and make Miami prove they can run the ball. Also hurting the RedHawks will be the health of wide receiver Michael Larkin who was stabbed earlier this month. Although he will play, he's been limited in practice, and that's one less option that QB Josh Betts will have to throw to. The Cyclones were 4-0 ATS this year as an underdog of less than 17 points, and they'll pull the minor upset this evening. Take the points.

GOY Notre Dame--At 9:45 pm, our selection is on Notre Dame, as the Irish fall into 5 systems of mine which are 8-0, 54-14, 43-15, 63-30, and 32-14 ATS since 1976. This game is a rematch of the 2000 season's Fiesta Bowl. Dennis Erickson's Beavers crushed Notre Dame 41-9. That was the 2nd worst Bowl loss in Notre Dame history, and was the 5th straight Bowl defeat for the Irish. Notre Dame lost the Gator Bowl 28-6 to NC State two years later, so they come into this contest off 6 straight Bowl defeats. But I really love Notre Dame in this contest. The firing of Tyrone Willingham and the hiring of Charlie Weis has re-energized their program, and interim coach Kent Baer has noticed an uptick in the players' enthusiasm. Meanwhile, Beavers' coach Mike Riley has had to suspend four players (Joe Rudulph, Brent Bridges, Anthony Wheat-Brown, and Whitfield Usher) for behavioral problems. Although Notre Dame dropped 3 of its final 4 games, two of those losses were by 3 points or less (and the Irish are getting 4 points in this game). Notre Dame has the much better running game (Darius Walker and Ryan Grant combined for 1239 yards), and pulled upsets over Michigan and Tennessee this year. In contrast, Oregon State DID NOT pull one single upset this season, and they were 2-3 in games where the spread was a touchdown or less. Take the points.
