  • Two Monday Bowl Games

    Bowls YTD 3-1 +1.9 units

    2* Toledo -3 (-120)
I've been going against UConn all year and this is another case where they are overvalued. Face it, UConn's here only because it played a ludicrously soft non-conference schedule and the Big East was awful this year. UConn's seven wins this year have been against Murray State, Duke, Army, Pitt, Buffalo, Temple and Rutgers! Pitt's the only half decent team on the list. Toledo, on the other hand, has been pouring it on down the stretch and won on this very field in Detroit to get to this bowl. Toledo only 45 miles from Detroit so should have crowd support. UConn has been awful against hte pass on the road while Toledo QB Gradkowski is hitting 70 percent of his passes.

    1* Fresno State +5 1/2
I actually look for a Fresno upset. Fresno won its last five games by a shocking 280-80 margin, albeit against weak competition in the WAC. Fresno Coach Hill a greaty motivator. Virginia had a chance for a major bowl and is now stuck traveling to frigid Boise. I doubt they're thrilled to be here. Fresno has experience playing in unique conditions at Boise's blue field as Boise State is a fellow conference member. These are actually two pretty good teams for a minor bowl but Fresno may have more intangibles.

Gradkowski is injured and might not be throwing that many passes.
