I like the fact that UAB head coach has come up with a decent game plan on how to beat Hawaii at Aloha Stadium. He took notice from watching game film that visiting teams often run out of gas at Hawaii because of the balmy climate. His plan is to rotate players in/out of the game to keep them fresh and keep pressure on Hawaii QB Chang. He had the Blazers arrive early in Honolulu to adjust to the time difference and climate change. He said his players are very excited about playing in their first ever Bowl game.
Hawaii has the third worst defense in the nation, allowing 479.2 yards and 38.2 ppg. UAB is led by quarterback Darrell Hackney who has thrown for 2,653 yds and 24 TD's and receiver Roddy White with 65 catches for 1,339 yds and 13 TD's. White is 2nd in the nation, averaging 121.7 yds per game.
Hawaii is 0-2 on the year vs Bowl teams, losing 14-70 at Fresno and losing 3-69 at Boise State. UAB is 2-2 vs Bowl teams, losing 7-34 at FSU, losing 21-26 at S Miss, winning 35-28 vs Memphis and winning 30-27 at Cincinnati.
I am playing UAB today, I think this line will go higher than 3 1/2, so I'm going to play the cat and mouse game and wait it out a little bit today to see if I can get a better line on UAB. I will post my play when I make it, but I'm definitely playing UAB because I think they can win this game outright.
