Another example that injuries are over-rated in the NBA and most sports.

Do NOT jump on a team because they have a star out with an injury.

I have found out over the years that at least for the first game or two you are better off going WITH the team with the wounded so-called key player especially when there is a big overreaction in the line.
I think that one of the reasons is for this is not only that the injured team gets fired up but also because the other team is lulled into a false sense of security or actually loses motivation because the opposing player is injured;its a long season, and I think a team is more likely to get psyched to play a team with all of their players then a team minus a player especially a good one.

I agree! I've been preaching this for a long time. Short-term teams rally without their star. Long-term is when it takes its toll. Most players in all sports have huge egos. Injuries allow 'roll' players to shine. It's their chance for the spotlite.

Also, the opposing teams let down. I'm certain Boston strolled into Miami last nite thinking they'd have an easy game vs. Miami without Shaq.

Look at Indy. After all the suspensions they won and covered 3 of their next 4. Then they went down the drains, losing 7 straight.
