  • Trends... Monday

This is Finals Week in most colleges, so not only do you have final exams, but you also have new players becoming eligible, after first semester ends; it gets hard to keep track of all the personnel comings and goings.

This is fourth time in six years Temple played vs Wake Forest, with Deacons winning last three meetings by 5-7-8 point margins. Temple lost 75-71 at Alabama two days ago; they're 3-4, with losses by 2-14-3-4 pts.

Miss State beat New Orleans last year, 77-59 at home now they visit Crescent City and find rebuilt Privateer squad that is 3-3, with losses by 16 at LSU, 34 at NC State and 13 vs FDU. Last five MSU wins are by 13+ points; they beat Little Rock by 30 Saturday.

Stanford got pummelled on CBS Saturday, 83-54 at Michigan State, now they visit Denver on way home and find Pioneer squad that is 3-0 at home, vs lesser foes, but their opnly losses are by 4 at Kansas St and by 5 at Loyola Marymount. Cardinal lost three in row.

San Diego lost four of last five games, including home losses to USC and San Jose; they host E. Washington team that is 1-3 on road, with all three losses by 16+ points; their only road win was at winless Cal Poly.

        Monday's games
        Game of the Day:
Wizards @ Heat-- Two of better teams in east go at it here, as improved Wizards, winners in nine of last 11 games, visit gym where they've lost last three visits by 4-7-10 points. Miami is 6-0 vs Wiz last six series tilts, with wins this year by 12,10. Heat won and covered their last four games; they're 1-3 vs spread last four times they played back-to-back games.

Elsewhere, Cavaliers lost both games vs Memphis last year by 7,18 points; they got whacked last two games, by 28 at Bulls, 19 at Spurs, allowing 114.5 ppg in pair of losses. Grizzlies won three of their last four games, with their last nine games staying under the total.

Dallas won both games vs Chicago last year by 26,13; they're 2-5 vs spread in game following their last seven wins, but they have won six of last nine, covering last 3 road games. Fifth straight home games for Bulls; seven of their last eight games stayed under the total.

Home side won both Orlando-Phoenix games last year by seven points each. Magic had tough loss at Staples last night; they're 9-3 in last twelve games, but allowed 109.8 ppg in last four games. Suns are 13-1 in their last fourteen games, with last four going over the total.

Clippers beat Celtics twice last year, by 9,2 points; C's are 1-3 on current road trip, but gave Seattle half their four losses. Clippers lost to Lakers Saturday, but Brand didn't play; they're 4-2 on current homestand, and 4-3 vs spread if they lost their previous game.

Chiefs (4-8) @ Titans (4-8)- Tennessee defense not up to snuff, as Fisher onside kicked three times last week; he basically admitted he couldn't stop Colts, and Chiefs are almost as good as Colts on offense, scoring 65 points in last two games, 31+ in five of last seven. Six of last nine Titan games went over total; they're 2-6 if they allow 20 or more points, and are just 1-4 at home. Chiefs in rival sandwich (Raiders/Broncos) but teams seldom flat on the national Monday night stage. KC has just six takeaways in their last nine games (-10).
