Montana +4
Montana seems to be getting things going winning 2 of there last 3 games. Last time out they took a very good Santa Clara team to the buzzer losing 77-75. The Grizzlies have three starters from a year ago back. Included in that trio is forward Kamarr Davis and guard Kevin Criswell. Davis earned Big Sky Newcomer of the Year honors last season after averaging 14.1 ppg and 6.3 ppg, while Criswell made all- league honors with 12.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg. Last year the Grizzlies won this matchup in Montana 61-50.
SE Missouri St has really struggled there last couple of games losing to W. Kentucky by 21 and then almost suffered a very embarrassing setback at home to South Dakota St but Mike Neltke's off balance 3-pointer at the buzzer provided Southeast with a 59-58 win over South Dakota State. Nelke, who has been hampered by a bad wrist, was 0-8 from the field prior to his game winning shot. Derek Winans, a senior guard for the Indians and best player returned to practice on Monday, Nov. 29, after being released by his St. Louis doctor. He had not started practice because of a stress fracture in his leg. Winans played 18 minutes vs. South Dakota State with three points and two rebounds. He is probable for limited playing time in the Montana game. Winans has been Southeast's top scorer for each of the last three seasons and without him fully healthy I see them continuing to struggle to score points. Montana is the better in the paint and will control the paint and cover the 4 here.
UCONN -9.5
I love to bet against Steve Lappas anytime I get the chance and I think this is a pretty good spot. UCONN will have a 10 day layoff after this game so should be focused and give an all out effort. UCONN is so dominate in the paint and will dominate the boards tonight(UCONN has outrebounded opponents this year 224-120!). UMASS just shooting 63% from the line this year and they will need all the points they can tonight to cover the number and that % won't cut it. Both teams have played Northeastern this year and UCONN won 97-60 at home and UMASS lost at home to Northeastern 84-68.
Cincinnati -10.5
Cincy really impressing me so far this season. With quality wins over N. Iowa by 6, Purdue by 20 and 10 on the road at Dayton. Cincy only shooting 39%from the floor this year and that does scare me a little but all 5 starters avg double digits and have a decisive rebounding edge in this one. Vandy struggling away from there home court this year going 0-3 and losing those games by an average of 14.3 points.
