Ton of folks on USC here, but IM not so sure why....Some thoughts Ive typed up....

They (OU) put so much pressure on the QB, there is really no time to throw--you need quick passes to beat their pressuring secondary--but the way to do it is big plays, which they are succeptible to due to their pressure D--(BUSH)

BUT, OU can run, run, run and as the Irish showed us, USC might have trouble stopping the run--and ive seen it with my own eyes, as we all have, if OU gets the run game going, it is play action time --and though I dislike him, Jason White can play action--than bang--big play receivers across the board--

I think this game might be a CLASSIC!!--might be nice to have the points here....

I know the BCS is crap, but I think they might have got the 2 best teams together....

    (sorry Cal)

If you watched any OU games this year you will understand the amazing amounts of pressure and blitzes they run.

It is nearly impossible to run on them--see Morency and Benson...

For USC to win Leinart wil have to throw for over 3 bills--If you look back it is the mobile QB's that have chance against OU--

McNeal for A and M, Roberson last year for KSU, Woods for OSU, those are the only close games they played--also Young made big plays, they just turned it over--

Leinart, a drop back style passer will have problems against OU relentless blitz scheme--

It will be like what USC threw at Michigan last year---

This year USC's D is more sit back and make plays instead of attacking--I think OU will have success....

This line reminds me of Tampa and Oakland a few years ago Super Bowl--

I really dont think anyone knows where to set the line, but USC has been #1 all year, so they have to be the fav....

          kb,

You know I've been up and down all year on college foots. My opinion is that USC is overrated and the PAC 10 sucks this year. Only 2 good teams USC & CAL. Oklahoma will win this game. Last year they got embarrassed against LSU and they dont want it to happen again. I'm not a OK fan or a USC fan. All I know is UCLA blows this year and they put up a fight against USC. Oklahoma would have beaten UCLA this year by 40+.

I agree 100%! Throw in the fact that osu the 5th place finisher in the big 12 south went out to the rose bowl earlier this year and just put it to the bruins and then see usc struggle (albeit i know it is a rivalry game) against them and it just points to a Sooner victory!
ps. I am a bit biased though!

Oklahoma will be a huge play for me. I think this could be a 14-20 point win. Oklahoma has the best talent of any team in the country. Running back Peterson is a phenomenon and underappreciated Jason White is the Tom Brady of college football---almost no mistakes but tons of TD passes and a high completion rate. Oklahoma's weakness has been its defense but that improved dramatically down the stretch. Last year Oklahoma peakerd too early. This year they are peaking late.

As for Southern Cal, they are a legitimately outstanding team with an NFL quality quarterback and a great WR in Bush. But Southern Cal was lucky to beat Cal at home and struggled mightily against UCLA. In the first game of the year, they would have lost to Virginia Tech were it not for a terrible pass interference call. The Pac 10 is NOT a strong conference and SC therefore had many easy games.

Oklahoma is the better team and getting points besides. Play the Sooners BIG!!

Jason White took a shot in the second quarter of the famous 35-7 2003 big 12 championship loss to K=State that he did not fully recover from when they took the field last year against LSU. Ever wonder why OU didnt show up the second half of that game? He wasnt even close to 100% against LSU. Stoops went with him anyway because he did the same thing in 2000 against Florida St. Josh Heuphel was playing hurt in that game but OU won that game with their Defense. Lsu had a great defense but watch the tape of that game and you will see Jason White missing on throws that he had made all year long against similar defensive schemes. I am going to play on Oklahoma big. I will take Stoops with a month of preparation time and his main players healthy.

I agree...OU will pound USC...USC was preseason rated #1, and until they lost (which they didn't) there was no reason to downgrade them....I personaly believe Auburn beats em by 7-10 points (if they played), and I look for OU to sting em by 14...34-20..."D" is too strong, too fast, and "O" is well balanced...Throw in the fact that they lost last year (LSU), and have a ton of guys that have been playing together for a while...

Don't misunderstand me, USC is good, but I think OU is better...I would have preferred to see UCLA beat em, and Auburn play OU...That would have been some "Smash mouth" ball..........

If either QB gets hurt, look out could get ugly...Backups??????

This doesnt have to be a bash USC thread, but hell--

IS IT NOT OBVIOUS THE BIG 12 SOUTH IS TOUGH AS S**T?

The pac 10 has what like 4 bowl teams and only one on or after New Years--

                    How about this??

The #5 team in the Big 12 South Texas Tech is only getting 11.5 from Cal, the 2nd best Pac 10 team-

If Texas was playing UCLA or Oregon they would be laying at least 21 on a--OU layed 28 to Oregon this year--

OU has played tough ass competition all year--USC has been hanging around with Pac 10 teams like UCLA, Stanford, etc.

Im lovin OU more and more every second.....

I know it is early, but can we hear some consideration for USC?

Who thinks they will repeat with a win on the 4th?

                        aplous,

You asked for an opinion on the game so I gave you mine. USC isnt as good of a team as they were last year plain and simple. The way I see it, it should be Oklahoma vs. Auburn then USC vs. Utah. I also dont feel that cal is as unstoppable as everyone thinks either. They will win their bowl game because T.Tech isnt that strong. IMO oklahoma rolls on jan 4th. like it or not. Just calling it how i see it.

i say usc wins by double digits. i think both defenses are good, however, texas a&m and okla homa st. showed that you can throw on oklahoma. throw out the usc/ucla game as rivalry games are almost always close(just look at auburn/alabama this year). i will take linhert and bush over white and peterson in what should be a good game, but i look for usc to win by 10-14 points pulling away in the 4th quarter.

Griswold, you point out accurately that OU's defense improved down the stretch. the reason OU's defense improved dramatically down the stretch was the return of Antonio Perkins at cornerback. Or, at least that's a big reason. I'm a definite homer. But I seldom bet on OU (sometimes take the points and go against) and I seldom put more than 2 units on a play. I have 3 units down on OU at -3.

                              correction

That should say 3 units on OU at +3. I'm just not used to putting a + by a number associated with OU.
