  • Trends Tuesday

    -- Charleston lost 66-62 at Auburn last year; now they host Tiger squad that lost last game to Wofford.

    -- St Bonaventure is 0-5, with losses to Marist-Cornell Canisius-Syracuse and Iona.

    -- East Tennessee is 0-2 on road, losing by 4 and 37 at Marshall, Alabama. Central Michigan is 3-0 on its home floor, 0-2 away from home.

    -- Buffalo is 4-1, with only loss to UConn; they're near top of heap in MAC predictions. Elon is 1-5 vs D-I clubs, but they are 2-1 at home.

    -- Fairfield has struggled on road so far, winning by a point in OT at Canisius, after they'd lost by 17 against GW. St Joe's was held to 51,49 iin its two losses, as they break in new starting backcourt (they're 1-2).

    -- Toledo is 0-3, but all three were on road; Rockets have all five starters back from last year and should do better than 73.3 ppg they've allowed so far. Nevada beat UNLV Saturday, so they travelled with a smile.

    -- East Carolina lost both its road games by 30+, and one of them was vs Gardner-Webb. Western is 3-0 at home, but not like they play Duke there.

    -- Miami must be fired up over 72-65 Florida win over weekend, now they visit crosstown rival FIU, which has six new guys but is 3-2, after being 5-22 last year. Hurricanes won last two series meetings by 17,18 pts.

    -- First road game for 3-1 Arkansas, which lost by 12 at home to #1 Illinois over weekend. Missouri is 4-3 but won its last two. Razorbacks do not have a starter whos a senior.

    -- Texas is 5-1, with four wins by 22+ points. North Texas has good guards and four starters back; their first road game was 14-point loss at Alabama. Horns just got back from weekend in NYC, where they beat Seton Hall Saturday.

    -- Wisconsin won five in row over Green Bay, with wins at this site by 16-13-21 points. Both sides won four of first five games, but GB's loss was by 54 at the hands of Michigan State. Wisconsin has only one win by more than 18 points.

    -- Southern Illinois, with four senior starters, back from a Hawaii trip, where they lost by bucket to Rainbows. Ark-Little Rock lost three of last four games, scoring less than 60 points in each of last three.

    -- Dayton lost 61-59 at Wyoming last year, so tonight Cowboys repay visit; host Flyers lost three of their first four games, but looked good for 35 minutes against Cincinnati Saturday. Wyoming won 71-70 at Montana State, but lost by 28 at Arizona.

    -- Texas Tech is 4-1, a bully team; three of their four wins are by 35+ points. Northern Arizona's two losses are by 1 vs Oral Roberts, 11 at New Mexico.

    -- South Alabama has allowed 66 or less points in last five games, but they're just 2-0 at home, 0-3 on road. LMU is long way from home (LA); their lone loss was by 7 vs Cal-Riverside.

    -- Butler and Bradley split home court wins last two years, both close games. Braves are 3-0 at home, with wins by 4-2-10 points. Bulldogs lost first road game last time out, in OT vs Ohio University.

    -- Kent hammered Creighton 70-55 last winter; they won last four games, and beat Florida State by 10. Creighton is already 7-0, despite being the underdog in three of their games.

    -- Northern Iowa is very good, their loss in 2 OT's at Cincinnati speaks for itself. They lost last three visits to Iowa City by 9-32-16 points. Hawkeyes are 6-1 after second-place finish in Maui Classic.

    -- Saint Louis might be hardest-luck team in country, as their last three losses are by total of five points, and last two coming by one point each. Wisc-Milwaukee is 5-1, 1-0 on road, winning league game at UIC by 8.

    -- Colorado State lost to Montana St Bobcats last yr in Bozeman, 82-75. MSU is already 0-2 on road, with losses by 17 at Washington State, 1 at San Jose. CSU is 4-0 at home, but three of four were against stiffs.

    -- Oklahoma State, Syracuse could easily be national title game next April; Orange bested State two years ago, in NCAA's, on their way to national title, four yrs after Cowboys had drilled Syracuse in first round tilt.

    -- Gonzaga won six in row over Washington State, as they pounded Wazoo 96-58 last year, after winning in OT year before. Wazoo lost 81-29 at Oklahoma St Saturday. All five Gonzaga wins are by 11+ points.

    -- Colorado beat Cal last year, 80-62. Buffs are 0-2 on road, losing by 9 to Michigan, 11 to Oregon State. Bears are 4-2, with three of the four wins by 19+ pts. Colorado lost to Cal's Pac-10 rival Oregon State on Saturday. home team won last three series games.

    -- First road game for San Diego State squad that lost at home to Washington last year, 92-81. Washington is 5-1, but three of their wins are by seven or less points. Huskies start four juniors and a senior.

    -- San Francisco is 0-3 on road, with all three losses by 10+; they've three senior starters, Dons have four losses by 9 or more points. Sacramento is 1-4, with all four losses by 9+ points.

    -- San Diego is 0-3 on road, with losses by 11-20-9 points; they're 1-4 overall. San Jose is 3-2, with pair of one-point wins already. Both sides start three seniors and two junior starters, so experience on both sides.

    Today's Tips:
    Memphis, +3.5-- Tigers are 4-2, but played five of six games vs quality foes, away from home; this is their second trip to Big Apple already. Pitt is 5-0, but hasn't played anyone: Howard-Robert Morris-Loyola, MD- St Francis- Duquesne. Calipari is getting his guys ready for tough games like this, while Pitt is just piling up few wins. 20 caliparis on the Memphis Tigers, +3.5
