The Rams had more first downs the the Packers, more third down conversions, outgained them in total yards, punted fewer times, had the ball longer, and received similar penalty yardage than Green Bay. If you watched the game, you saw that St. Louis moved the ball up and down the field well. Even with Green Bay's ability to run the ball down St. Louis' throat (231 rushing yards vs. 47 for the Rams), St. Louis should have been able to hang in this game and cover the 7.
What went wrong? Turnovers (the Rams had three, two of which were recovered for TDs and one of which occurred in the redzone), odd employment of trick plays and horrible time-out usage--each of which are familiar characteristics of Martz-led teams.
St. Louis was the right side. GB wasn't 7 points better than the Rams, but poor coaching and the familiar poor play of the Rams away from their dome doomed this pick.
