Just going to place these trends here tonight...
Robert Morris has three starters back from its 14-15 squad, and is picked for third in conference. Ohio State has a new coach; its old coach sued school last week for firing him unjustly; it also has four starters back from 14-16 team. Buckeyes picked 6th Big 11.
Iona changed all its assistant coaches, never a good sign; they're picked for third in MAAC because Ruland can recruit, not because he can coach. Creighton won four of last six MVC titles, but are supposed to be little down this year, and are picked for fifth in the Valley.
Tom Penders returns to coaching wars with Houston; I saw him this summer in Florida; hes 15 years older than me, and looks 15 years younger. He brought in five JC guys; his teams always run like hell. Problem is, Cougars were 9-18 last year, and haven't won in long time. Missouri got hit by NCAA in offseason; they're picked for 7th in the Big 12. Certain amount of pressure on Snyder to win. Now.
Niagara lost MAAC title game two years in row; they still have some good players, but are smaller, thinner than last year's team that lost 72-65 to St John's of Big East. Providence, under some pressure to win this year, beat Siena of MAAC last year, 73-66.
Eight of top ten Wright St players are frosh or sophs; they have soph PG, and are picked for sicth in decent Horizon League. Tulsa is in disarray under tutelage of former high school coach who hasn't recruited well. Formerly tough Hurricane are picked 8th in WAC.
San Diego made Big Dance two years ago, then went 4-26 last year; is it good to have all the guys back from 4-26 team? Holland is good coach, and Toreros will be better, as they're picked for 4th in WCC. Arizona is #11 in country; they should respect USD after struggle with St Mary's of WCC last year (84-78). Huge edge in talent obviously goes to Arizona.
Quinnipiac has three starters back from 9-20 team and is picked 7th in 11-team NEC. Penn has two starters back from 17-10 team, but is slipping in Ivy race; they are picked third this year, despite having seven seniors.
Suns @ Mavericks-- Steve Nash returns to Dallas as a Sun; Phoenix is 4-2, but allowed 113.5 ppg in losing its last two games; they're 4-1 vs East, 0-1 vs West. The Mavericks are Dallas is 7-1, with three wins in row; they scored 109.7 ppg in last three games, but five of their seven contests stayed under total. All four series games last year were decided by 13+ points, with Suns losing by 13,21 at this site. Average total in the four games was 208.5
Seattle heads east on six-game win streak; they're averaging 107.2 in the six games. 76ers won their last three games. Road team won both series games last year. All three Philly home games went over the total.
Bobcats are 1-4 with three losses in row; four of their five games went over total. Jazz is 4-1; they won only road game 102-80 in Oakland. Last four Utah games all went over the total.
Houston heads to Peachtree St after evening their road record with easy win in Jersey last night; they swept the Hawks last year, by 9,2 points. Atlanta is 1-5, 0-2 at home; they're 0-5 when they score less than 90.
Miami is 5-2, 3-1 on road; they're 4-0 if they score 100 or more points, 0-2 if they don't. Wade still bothered with ankle injury. Heat is 5-0 vs East, 0-2 vs West, so test here, vs Minnesota group that hasn't played since Thursday; four of their five games were decided by six or less points.
Spurs beat Knicks by 10,12 points last year; they won five of their first six games, winning last three by 20-9-15 points- they're 3-0 at home, with wins by 16-20-9 pts. Knicks are 0-2 on road, losing both by six points.
Bulls are 0-4, with only road loss 100-90 at Indiana; in last year's series, they lost to Kings by 8,11 points, and here face King squad that is 2-0 at home, with wins by 16,12 points; five of their seven games stayed under.
Improving Raptors are 6-1 vs spread, but lost three of four on road, losing last two games by combined total of four points. Clippers are 0-3 after win this year; three of their last four games went over the total. Road team won both series games last year.
