  • Keep pounding those overs in hoops

Just some interesting trends that I'm noticing:

So far this year, the over is 32-15.

Games where the home team is a dog has gone over the total all 12 times (12-0).

Games starting at 6:00 CST have gone over 8 of 9.

Games where favorite is favored by 8 points or more, has gone over 11 of 14 games.

Teams that played the most Unders last year (GState, Utah, Toronto, Philly) have gone over 11 of 13.

hoosier I just posted that point in another chat---do you think that is because of the NBA cracking down on hands on defense---and the scoring will decrease when the refs stop calling it??

Celts, good question, but too hard to say. I've watched a ton of games so far (at least parts of tons of games, thank God for DirecTV), and haven't noticed a big increase in hand check calls. What I've noticed is the overall lack of defense that teams are playing. The other thing I'm noticing is that even "half court" teams, like San Antonio & Detroit, are trying to push the ball quite a bit more, especially after a rebound or turnover. Not as much walking the ball up the court.

As for why the home dog games keep going over, I'm not sure. They aren't covering a high percentage (only 38%), but games are flying over the totals, often by double digits. I'm taking a couple of the overs tonight that I don't necessarily like, Chi/Pho & Port/NJ, but I'm going to keep riding that train.
