Stu Feiner hit yesterday with his Collge game of the year part two, with Notre Dame outright over Tenn. He played 10 million$ on it. Today he has a round robin parlay of the month going and also his NFL underdog of the year part three. If anyone has them? Also looking for Tony Diamond. Thanks.

            Harmon Forecast NFL

            Week 9 - Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004
*Baltimore 21 Cleveland 14 - Browns QB Jeff Garcia threw for a score and ran for one in Cleveland's 20-3 victory over the Ravens on Opening Day. Since then Baltimore's running game -- though not much else -- has improved dramatically.

*Carolina 13 Oakland 10 - Neither of these offenses may do much here, since they're both best through the air, while both defenses are at their best against the pass. They've met twice, most recently in 2000, and each has won big.

Dallas 26 *Cincinnati 18 - The only thing that can keep the Bengals close is their secondary, but why would the Cowboys throw when they can open big holes in the league's weakest defensive line? Dallas beat Cincy last, four years ago.

*Denver 29 Houston 16 - Against teams with slacker defenses, the pass-dependent Texans have looked good, but they may get beaten up by the Broncos -- a club they've never faced -- who will shut them down while running all over them.

*Detroit 19 Washington 13 - Who knows how the Lions will play from week to week? Their offense, which finally came to life two weeks ago against the Giants, could be stifled by the Redskins, whom they last met -- and defeated -- in '00.

Kansas City 20 *Tampa Bay 12 - Not as easy a pick as it appears, hinging on whether the Buccaneers can keep the now red-hot Chiefs' backfield in check, and whether T.B. has benefited from a bye week. They haven't butted heads since '99.

*Miami 14 Arizona 13 - The Dolphins will need some help from their Bengals-like defensive line to stop the Cardinals, and whether Miami can score is yet another question. The Dolphins are 8 for 8 against Arizona/Phoenix/St. Louis.

New England 22 *St. Louis 18 - Though they can exploit the Patriots' defensive weaknesses -- especially through the air -- the Rams are giving up way too many yards to pull off an upset. Their last meeting was N.E.'s Super Bowl win in '02.

*N.Y. Giants 30 Chicago 14 - If they hope to keep up with the Eagles, the Giants' defense needs to step up and knock down teams like the Bears while the offense is running them ragged. N.Y. was the series' last winner, four years ago.

N.Y. Jets 18 *Buffalo 13 - The Jets overcame the Bills' late charge four weeks ago to edge them 16-14 on Doug Brien's last-minute field goal. In another defensive battle, N.Y. should sweep Buffalo for the second time in three years.

Philadelphia 24 *Pittsburgh 22 - An impossible pick: The Eagles' third straight AFC North opponent (after the Browns and Ravens) is obviously the best. Philly needed OT to beat the Steelers in '00, and they're just as evenly matched this time.

*San Diego 29 New Orleans 19 - At home, against a defense that stops nothing, the up-and-down Chargers will get past the down-and-up Saints, though they'll give up lots of passing yards. N.O. beat S.D. the last time they met, four years ago.

Seattle 23 *San Francisco 16 - In Week Three, when the Seahawks were looking Super, they dealt the 49ers their first shutout in 456 games, 34-0. Seattle fell flat after that, and its fourth straight series win will be much more interesting.
            week 9 - Monday, Nov. 8, 2004

Minnesota 32 *Indianapolis 28 - Impossible pick No. 2: Yeah, the Vikings measure their air game in acres, not yards, and the Colts are helpless against the pass, but we can't shake the feeling that anybody can beat Minnesota at any time.

                        Sunday, 1 p.m.
Preview | Matchup N.Y. Jets at Buffalo
How impressive was LaMont Jordan on Monday night? He runs like a man possessed. If I'm Herm Edwards, I find a way for Jordan to get eight touches every week.
New York Jets 16, Buffalo 10

                        Sunday, 1 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Oakland at Carolina
Saw the Panthers last week, and I'm stunned they were so competitive in Seattle. Caught the Raiders highlights. I fear for Norv Turner's job if they have many Sundays like that San Diego game.
                        Carolina 22, Oakland 17

                        Sunday, 1 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Dallas at Cincinnati
Carson Palmer rebounds to play a good game. But Vinny Testaverde schools the Bengals with a 316-yard, three-touchdown afternoon. This will be tight end Jason Witten's breakout Sunday.
                        Dallas 27, Cincinnati 21

                        Sunday, 1 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Washington at Detroit
You know what's nice? Really nice? The Detroit defensive linemen were passing around a copy of MMQB Tuesday edition, which led with the Kelvin Pritchett story (he flew to Florida this week to vote). Nice that they have pride in their mate.
                        Detroit 17, Washington 10

                        Sunday, 1 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Arizona at Miami
I want to know one thing: What possible relevance does this game have in American society?
                        Arizona 14, Miami 9

Sunday, 1 p.m. Preview | Matchup Philadelphia at Pittsburgh
Donovan McNabb to Reno Mahe, a little swing pass, for the winning touchdown with 1:31 left in the game. Great, great struggle of titans.
                        Philadelphia 22, Pittsburgh 20

                        Sunday, 1 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Kansas City at Tampa Bay
I peer into my crystal ball and see Gunther Cunningham walking down Dale Mabry Highway near the ballpark and asking complete strangers: "Anybody seen my defense? Anyone?"
Kansas City 29, Tampa Bay 19

                        Sunday, 4:05 p.m.
Preview | Matchup N.Y. Giants at Chicago
I don't mean to embarrass Craig Krenzel by writing that he'll be shut out at the wind-whipped Meadowlands. But I think the Giants are going to clean his clock.
New York Giants 17, Chicago 0

                        Sunday, 4:05 p.m.
Preview | Matchup New Orleans at San Diego
In training camp, I remember LaDainian Tomlinson telling me how it would be a realistic and admirable goal for the Bolts to go 8-8 this year. That means, with this win, they'd have to 2-5 down the stretch to accomplish that objective.
San Diego 23, New Orleans 10

                        Sunday, 4:05 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Seattle at San Francisco
Jerry Rice goes home. Ankle hurts. I can't tell you much about what will happen in this game other than this: Rice won't be very giddy when he leaves Candlestick/3Com/Monster late Sunday afternoon.
                        Seattle 19, San Francisco 8

                        Sunday, 4:15 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Houston at Denver
I have lost faith in the Broncos. I picked them to make the Super Bowl before the season, and now I don't even recognize them anymore.
                        Houston 17, Denver 16

                        Sunday, 4:15 p.m.
Preview | Matchup New England at St. Louis
"World Series revenge,'' says my HBO-mate, Elliott Kalb. "This St. Louis team can actually hit."
St. Louis 28, New England 17

                        Sunday, 8:30 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Cleveland at Baltimore
Nothing wrong with the Ravens' defense, obviously, judging from the game in Philadelphia. Now Baltimore gets Jamal Lewis back. And the Ravens will be pretty ticked off about that season-opening embarrassment in Cleveland.
                        Baltimore 20, Cleveland 13

                        Monday, 9 p.m.
Preview | Matchup Minnesota at Indianapolis
Peyton Manning 388 yards, Daunte Culpepper 290. These things happen when Randy Moss is a limper, not a sprinter.
                        Indianapolis 38, Minnesota 23
Last week: 8-6 Overall: 68-47 Bye: Atlanta, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Tennessee

                          Miami herald/Greg Cote NFL picks

                          Interconference
                          CARDINALS AT DOLPHINS
                          1 p.m. Sunday, Chs. 7, 29

We briefly interrupt the South Florida Love Shaq Festival to bring you a sobering dose of Dolphins. You think Monday's national embarrassment drove this cursed season to its ultimate nadir? Uh uh. Lose this game, and that is rock bottom, my friend. Miami is 8-0 all-time vs. Arizona. The Cardinals have lost an NFL-worst 17 straight road games; they travel about as well as a colicky infant. Lose this game, Dolphs, and it don't get no rock-bottomer than that. Other seasons, this would be a layup, a tap-in putt. Not now. 'Zona brings some weapons in Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald and a reinvigorated Emmitt Smith to face Miami's now- Junior Seau-less D. And the defensive Redbirds, though erratic, are turnover-producing, improved, and now enjoying the added gift that is Miami's flaccid offense. We'll chance the Dolphins to somehow get by on the memories, echoes and fumes of what used to be real home-field advantage. But our confidence in the pick mirrors the assuredness Dave Wannstedt must feel about his job future.

                          • Cote says: Dolphins, 23-17.
                          • Favorite: Dolphins by 3.
                          • Stars: * ½
                          • Records: Cardinals 2-5; Dolphins 1-7.
                          • Cardinals injuries: CB Renaldo Hill (hamstring) and RB Josh Scobey (knee) are questionable.
                          • Dolphins injuries: LB Junior Seau (pectoral/injured reserve) is out; WR Marty Booker (ribs), S Antuan Edwards (groin), K Olindo Mare (right calf) and DT Mario Monds (hand) are questionable.

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          RAIDERS AT PANTHERS
                          1 p.m. Sunday

This game is barking like a poodle left in a hot car. Teams have lost 10 straight between them, and Raiders defense has been particularly putrid, allowing 30-plus points in five consecutive L's. (Nice career move, Sapp!). Carols should be fired up to face ex-QB Kerry Collins, to the degree any abysmal team can find fire. Line feels fat, though.

                          • Cote says: Panthers, 23-20.
                          • Favorite: Panthers by 7.
                          • Stars: *
                          • Records: Raiders 2-6; Panthers 1-6.
                          • Raiders injuries: LB Travian Smith (knee), G Ron Stone (knee) and CB Charles Woodson (hip) are doubtful; RB Justin Fargas (toe), T Robert Gallery (groin) and WR Alvis Whitted (hip) are questionable.
                          • Panthers injuries: RB Stephen Davis (knee), CB Chris Gamble (knee), DT Kindal Moorehead (shoulder), LB Dan Morgan (concussion), RB Rod Smart (knee) and S Travares Tillman (forearm) are questionable.

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          EAGLES AT STEELERS
                          1 p.m. Sunday

Battleground state, indeed. You've got half of Pa. rooting for the Eagles, King Sport's last remaining unbeaten team, and the other half cheering for Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers, who've won five straight, including last week's de-streaking of New England. A letdown might be a Pitt concern, but is a letdown even possible at home against an undefeated state rival? Teams haven't met since 2000, but the reunion is delicious, with Philly 7-0 for first time ever and Pitt 6-1 for first time since 1978. Need even more emotion? They'll mark 25th anniversary of Pitt's '79 Super Bowl champs at halftime. Throw in Terrell Owens in a clown suit and you've got a real par-tay! Eagles have won nine straight road games but I like Men of Steel in a minor upset. (Champagne toast ready, '72 Dolphs?)

                          • Cote says: Steelers, 28-27.
                          • Favorite: Eagles by 1.
                          • Stars: * * * *
                          • Records: Eagles 7-0; Steelers 6-1.
                          • Eagles injuries: S J.R. Reed (hamstring) is doubtful; G Jermane Mayberry (calf), WR Todd Pinkston (knee) and RB Brian Westbrook (rib) are questionable.
                          • Steelers injuries: CB Chad Scott (quadriceps) is out; QB Tommy Maddox (right elbow) is questionable.

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          COWBOYS AT BENGALS
                          1 p.m. Sunday

Take 'Gals over 'Boys in a slight home-'dog hunch. Dallas isn't good enough to take anybody lightly but will here, especially with Philly up next. Cincy is 7-3 at home under Marvin Lewis and better than its recent slump.

                          • Cote says: Bengals, 27-24.
                          • Favorite: Cowboys by 1.
                          • Stars: * *
                          • Records: Cowboys 3-4; Bengals 2-5.
                          • Cowboys injuries: RB Julius Jones (shoulder) is out; WR Quincy Morgan (hamstring) and CB Tyrone Williams (hamstring) are questionable.
                          • Bengals injuries: DE Carl Powell (knee) is doubtful; T Willie Anderson (knee), CB Rashad Bauman (Achilles') and WR Peter Warrick (shin) are questionable.

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          CHIEFS AT BUCCANEERS
                          1 p.m. Sunday

KayCee is still thinking playoffs after a 101-point festival in two straight wins, while T-Bay has lurched toward respectability after an 0-3 start and is coming off a bye. Chiefs face a letdown after shootout win over Indy, and Bucs' pass-D should challenge hot Trent Green. But still like a high-rolling KC offense.

                          • Cote says: Chiefs, 24-17.
                          • Favorite: Chiefs by 3.
                          • Stars: * *
                          • Records: Chiefs 3-4; Buccaneers 2-5.
                          • Chiefs injuries: TE Kris Wilson (ankle) is out; LB Monty Beisel (calf) is doubtful; RB Derrick Blaylock (thigh), RB Omar Easy (hamstring), CB Dexter McCleon (hamstring) and DT Junior Siavii (ankle) are questionable.
                          • Buccaneers injuries: RB Mike Alstott (knee) is out; WR Joey Galloway (groin), WR Joe Jurevicius (lower back), WR Charles Lee (knee) and QB Chris Simms (left shoulder) are questionable.

                          SAINTS AT CHARGERS
                          4:05 p.m. Sunday

A scoreboard spinner, with SD leading the league in scoring and NO averaging 24.5 a game since Week 2. Ride the Bolts, I say. Take red-hot Drew Brees, 74 percent accuracy and 11-1 on TDs/picks in his past five games. And take a stout Diego run-D bottling Deuce McAllister.

                          • Cote says: Chargers, 30-20.
                          • Favorite: Chargers by 6.
                          • Stars: * *
                          • Records: Saints 3-4; Chargers 5-3.
                          • Saints injuries: DE Darren Howard (knee), LB Courtney Watson (knee) and TE Boo Williams (hamstring) are questionable.

                          4:15 p.m. Sunday, Chs. 4, 12

Upset! New England is fit to be Ty'd, and beaten, with starting cornerbacks Ty Law and Tyrone Poole both out injured for this reunion of recent Super Bowl combatants. Pats' vulnerabilities showed in streak-stopper vs. Pitt last week, and St. Lou -- 4-0 after byes under Mike Martz -- had an off-week to turn its embarrassing loss to Miami into fuel. Passing stats of Marc Bulger will be bulging.

                          • Cote says: Rams, 24-23.

``AAAWWWK!'' yodels a busy Upset Bird. ``Buffalaaawwwk!'' Planes have dominated series the past few years, yeah, but will have letdown after emotional Monday spanking of Miami and be surprised by a Buffs squad gaining credibility. NYJ needed a last-minute field goal to edge Williams 16-14 three weeks ago. ``Bison defense will severely limit Curtis Martin,'' adds U-Bird. ``Curtis MAAWWK!''

                          4:15 p.m. Sunday

Clubs' first-ever meeting finds Houston smooth-riding with David Carr, and Denver having lost two straight with error-prone Jake Plummer. But Mile High remains a tough venue, and Broncs' pass-D (even without John Lynch) should trouble Carr.

                          • Cote says: Broncos, 31-17.

                          8:30 p.m. Sunday, ESPN

Prime-timer is potential sandwich game for Baltimore, stuck between Philly and Jets-on-deck. And Cleveland handled the Crows 20-3 in '04 opener. Still like Balts -- team is on an 8-1 run at home and gets Jamal Lewis back from suspension -- but see Earthtones, off a bye, keeping it inside the bet number.

                          • Cote says: Ravens, 17-13.

Washers have playoff-caliber defense, but Joe Gibbs' guys keep self-destructing with turnovers. Lions, second in league in sacks, create enough mayhem to continue that 'Skin propensity. Motown gets back on track at home.

                          • Cote says: Lions, 24-20.

Trap game for Biggies, who face a letdown after whuppin' Minnesota last week. Plus, Brian Urlacher should limit Tiki Barber. That makes Pandas a fair bet getting nine, but still like NYG's turnover-causing defense to dominate rookie QB Craig Krenzel.

Oceanbirds have won three straight in series, including 34-0 in September. SF gets Tim Rattay back, but Frans still find ways to self-destruct. Jerry Rice and Dennis Erickson face their ex-teams to spice a bland game. Like Frans with points, though.

                          9 p.m., Chs. 10, 25

NBA score, anyone? Daunte Culpepper and Peyton Manning trade prolificacy for the NFL's two most yardage-producing offenses. Both teams are coming off humbling losses, but Horses are home and more desperate after two straight L's. Indy's rotten air defense gets a big break, too, with Randy Moss (hamstring) likely to be very limited if he plays at all. Manning and Marvin Harrison surpassing Jim Kelly/Andre Reed for most hookups in history will be the bow on the victory.

                          • Cote says: Colts, 37-30.

                            Best bet: Steelers
                            All picks against the spread

                            Jets: Don't get distracted
                            Jets (6-1) at Bills (2-5)
                            Line: Jets by 3. Over-under: 36 1/2.
Rich the Jets fan is brimming with confidence, checking the schedule and wondering how his guys can do worse than 12-4. Curtis Martin is in career form, John Abraham is a sack machine and even the clock management was timely at the end of the half Monday night. Slaughtering the despised Dolphins felt as good as two wins, but the Jets have to follow it up. Warning: The Bills almost beat them Oct. 10; they have a tough defense and play well at home. Putting heat on Drew (The Statue) Bledsoe should prevent an upset.
                            The pick: Jets

                            Giants: Assume nothing
                            Bears (2-5) at Giants (5-2)
                            Line: Giants by 9. O-U: 35.
The last three times the Giants were favored by 7 or more at home, they didn't win, let alone cover. It happened two weeks ago against the Lions, so they should be focused against a team they could rout. But you never know. Rookie QB Craig Krenzel was OK in his starting debut last week, and he's extremely intelligent. The Bears would be better off with a dumb guy who has a great arm. Chicago's defense is young but has allowed more than 20 points only twice. I'll give a lukewarm vote to Big Blue.
                            The pick: Giants

                            Marquee matchups
                            Eagles (7-0) at Steelers (6-1)
                            Line: Eagles by 1. O-U: 44.
Thanks to a standout rookie QB, there's a feeding frenzy in Pittsburgh. Peppi's version of the "Ben Roethlisburger" comes with beef, sausage, scrambled eggs and American cheese; the Brentwood Express serves beef, bacon, barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, cheddar and provolone. Each costs $7 (Ben's number). The Steelers knocked out the Pats early in the second half and may have enough juice to cancel another unbeaten. Philly just slipped by the Browns and Ravens, and former Eagle Duce Staley and Jerome Bettis will punish a vulnerable run defense.
                            The pick: Steelers

                            Patriots (6-1) at Rams (4-3)
                            Line: Patriots by 2 1/2. O-U: 48 1/2.
After leading a charmed life for 21 games, the Patriots finally have run into adversity. RB Corey Dillon (thigh) is gimpy, and losing the league's best cornerback, Ty Law, to a foot injury really hurts. Let's see how inexperienced CBs Asante Samuel and Randall Gay do against WRs Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce on St. Louis' turf. The Rams are wacky enough to win this after losing at Miami.
                            The pick: Rams

                            Vikings (5-2) at Colts (4-3)
                            Line: Colts by 6. O-U: 58 1/2.
Take the "over" and enjoy the fireworks as great offenses overrun bad defenses. If Randy Moss (game-time decision, hamstring) were healthy, he could burn Indy for 200 yards and three TDs. The Colts can't afford to lose three in a row, so it should be their turn. Peyton Manning will outdo Daunte Culpepper in a shootout.
                            The pick: Colts

                            Around the league
                            Redskins (2-5) at Lions (4-3)
                            Line: Lions by 3 1/2. O-U: 37 1/2.
From the NFL's Mission Statement: "We are committed to teasing you with bonus coverage of a close game, then cutting away before it ends because of stupid TV rules." Washington's stats are better than Detroit's, but unlike the Lions, the 'Skins have beaten only lousy teams. Maybe Coach Gibbs should have stuck to watching ugly cars go around in circles.
                            The pick: Lions

                            Cardinals (2-5) at Dolphins (1-7)
                            Line: Dolphins by 3. O-U: 34 1/2.
Too bad there aren't more leaf-bearing trees in South Florida and Arizona, because this matchup makes raking seem entertaining. The Cards have lost 17 straight away games, and Miami is at an all-time low. After conserving their energy by going into the fetal position in the second half against the Jets, the Stinky Fish may revive against one of the few teams they can beat.
                            The pick: Dolphins

                            Cowboys (3-4) at Bengals (2-5)
                            Line: Cowboys by 1. O-U: 44.
There's a road in the Dallas area called the Tom Landry Highway. At this rate, there won't be one named for Bill Parcells. As expected, his 'Boys have backslid in his second season, and another playoff berth is unlikely. Eddie George finally got going against Detroit, and Dallas might push around the league's worst run defense and worst cover team (1-6).
                            The pick: Cowboys

                            Raiders (2-6) at Panthers (1-6)
                            Line: Panthers by 7. O-U: 41 1/2.
The last two Super Bowl losers present a bettor's dilemma. Oakland has lost five straight overall (no ******) and is in a 1-10 ATS slump on the road. Carolina hasn't covered in three home games and is 3-12 ATS in its last 15 as a favorite. So what? People still will gamble with gusto. I have to pick somebody, so take the points.
                            The pick: Raiders

                            Chiefs (3-4) at Bucs (2-5)
                            Line: Chiefs by 3. O-U: 44 1/2.
Kansas City rolled up 101 points the past two weeks, the best way to protect a very shaky 'D'. Tampa Bay can't score but has the No. 2-ranked defense. So, who'll gain the edge when opposite forces meet? For the Bucs to win, they'll probably need a TD on special teams or on a turnover.
                            The pick: Chiefs

                            Seahawks (4-3) at 49ers (1-6)
                            Line: Seahawks by 6 1/2. O-U: 40.
Road teams are on the move (62-51-3 ATS) while favorites (52-60-3 ATS, 1 pick 'em) struggle. Seattle hasn't covered in four games since ripping the Niners, 34-0. 49ers QB Ken Dorsey was pathetic against Chicago, and San Francisco's lousy defense is running out of bodies. It's time for the Seahawks to wake up.
                            The pick: Seahawks

                            Saints (3-4) at Chargers (5-3)
                            Line: Chargers by 6. O-U: 48 1/2.
Quick now, who has been the bettors' best friend? Amazingly, it's the Chargers (6-1-1 ATS). Everyone knew RB LaDainian Tomlinson was a star, but strong play by QB Drew Brees and San Diego's No. 1-ranked run defense was unexpected. The Saints can score but allow 28 ppg on the road.
                            The pick: Chargers

                            Texans (4-3) at Broncos (5-3)
                            Line: Broncos by 6 1/2. O-U: 41 1/2.
Bad losses to the Bengals and Falcons proved Denver's 5-1 start was a mirage. QB Jake (The Mistake) Plummer is turnover-prone and the Broncos' defense is overrated. Strange but true: Denver (2-4-2 ATS this season) has covered once in its last 14 (1-12-1 ATS) outside its division. Houston has a quick-striking offense and an improving defense.
                            The pick: Texans

                            Browns (3-4) at Ravens (4-3)
                            Line: Ravens by 6. O-U: 35.
Running back Jamal Lewis returns from his suspension for Baltimore, which will have the revenge angle working in prime time. Cleveland surprised the Ravens, 20-3, opening day but hasn't covered in three road games. Baltimore is on a 5-1 spread run in spite of bumbling QB Kyle Boller.
                            The pick: Ravens
