2 STAR: AKRON (+8.5) OVER Marshall

This is one of the biggest games that Akron has played in quite some time because they actually have a chance to win the MAC title. They are up against the leagues best defense from Marshall, but I think they can at least keep this within the number. The Zips will be fired up for this nationally televised ESPN game and Akron has done well at home against the Thundering Herd covering the spread in the last three meetings played at Akron. This is not like the Marshall teams of the past that featured high powered offenses, this years edition is built on defense. In fact the Thundering Herd offense is only averaging 16.75 points per game on the road this season and they have had very poor quarterback play. With that lack of production I have a hard time seeing them cover this number. They have relied heavily on their defense to win some ugly games, and they will have to do so again here against a Zips offense that averages 34 points per game at home. Marshall is only 3-7 against the spread in their last ten games as a road favorite. Take the points here!
